After the success of the MVs Vu tru co anh and Dan xe ox , Phuong My Chi continues the cultural story by bringing the breath of the times into the new MV Goi gam .
This is one of the songs in the album Universe of Flying Storks , released by Phuong My Chi in September 2023.
Borrowing the poem of Ho Xuan Huong
Phuong My Chi is in charge of composing the melody for Goi Gam . DTAP wrote the lyrics and also produced it.
Both borrow poetic ideas from poet Ho Xuan Huong, expressing the loneliness and waiting of women in many different contexts and eras.
"At first, the DTAP members gave me a composition topic about an object. While I was sleeping, Chi came up with the idea, 'Let's write about a pillow, then play with the rhyme of the word 'puppet'. From there, the song ' Gilted Pillow ' was born" - Phuong My Chi shared.
The difference between "Goi Gam" and other MVs that bring literature into music is that this song does not recreate the content of any specific literary story.
The brocade pillow is subtly expressed through metaphorical images. In the MV, Phuong My Chi plays Phuong Dinh - a character in the work Distant Stars . Along with that are the two characters Nho and Thao, played by An Den and Ngan Chi.
The image of the three facing a whale in the East Sea was inspired by creative director Ben Pham from the image of female general Trieu Thi Trinh, the girl in the MV who tamed the whale with music and singing.
The fruit tray is also inspired by the literary material of poet Ho Xuan Huong, as if carrying a desire for happiness.
The crew also incorporated the image of a stork - a familiar image associated with Phuong My Chi after the success of the album. The flying stork universe , symbolizing Phuong My Chi's hard work and diligence over the past decade.
Throughout the MV, Phuong My Chi wears folk-inspired costumes such as ao yem, ao dai, and ao ba ba, stylized in a modern way, showing her dynamism.

Phuong My Chi broke quite a few dishes while dancing with the bowls.
Phuong My Chi attracted attention with her opening vocals of the song, which she composed.
She said the difficulty was not in writing the lyrics but in singing, chanting, and enunciating the words to match the sound of Nghe-Tinh folk songs because Ho Xuan Huong was born in Nghe An.
Phuong My Chi's skillful cup dance. Compared to the cup dance at the Universe of Flying Storks showcase, this time is a great challenge for Phuong My Chi.
"During practice, Chi broke quite a few cups. When she was on set, Chi was nervous because if a cup fell, the whole crew had to start the dance set over again.
On the other hand, holding the cup for a long time makes your hands stiff and tired, and sweaty hands make the cup slippery and easy to fall" - Phuong My Chi shared.
