
The first quarter seafood catch (from December 11, 2024 to March 10, 2025) reached 2,841 tons, of which fish was 1,757 tons, squid was 713 tons and other seafood was 371 tons, reaching 9.47% of the annual plan (the district's target was 30,000 tons), down 2,407 tons compared to the same period in 2024. The current capacity of vessels as of March 10, 2025 is 1,740, including: Vessels under 6m managed by commune-level localities are 105, fishing vessels from 6m and above managed by the Department of Fisheries are 1,635, of which 130 vessels provide seafood purchasing and transportation services. The total number of ships installed with VMS is 591/594 (of which 3 ships are abandoned and not operating, without VMS equipment, have been put under monitoring and management, and 1 ship has been auctioned but has not been transferred).
In the coming time, the district will continue to monitor and manage owners of offshore fishing vessels, instruct fishermen to properly comply with regulations on participating in fishing activities at sea so that fuel support according to Decision 48/2010/QD-TTg is convenient. In addition, the district will continue to direct the implementation of the work of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, strictly implementing Directive 30 dated January 16, 2018 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Directive No. 32, dated April 10, 2024 of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and sustainable development of the fisheries sector. At the same time, grasp information and strictly manage subjects capable of fishing with explosives, toxic substances, and electric shocks in the communes. In the first quarter, the district did not detect any cases of boats operating illegally in foreign waters...
