After more than 3 years of implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025, Women's Unions at all levels in Bac Giang province have accompanied and supported members, especially women in difficult circumstances and ethnic minorities, to actively develop the economy; build good models, and gradually escape poverty.
Through the program of coordination with the Social Policy Bank, the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development branches in districts and cities, up to now, the Women's Union at all levels of Bac Giang province has received over 4,000 billion VND in trust and credit, helping more than 54,000 women borrow capital to develop their family economy. Through inspection and supervision, it is shown that the loan capital is used for the right purpose, effectively, promoting the role of women in managing the family economy. When ethnic minority women affirm their ability to participate and contribute to the family economy and the local community, their position will gradually be enhanced in the family and in society.
Currently, in the whole Bac Giang province, there are 45 ethnic groups living, of which 6 ethnic minorities account for the majority, namely Nung, Dao, Tay, San Diu, Hoa, San Chi and Cao Lan, with a total of 257,258 ethnic minorities, of which women account for 49%.
Along with that, the number of ethnic minority women who are the main labor force also accounts for more than half of the total number of ethnic minority women in Bac Giang province. They play a key role in the household economy, demonstrated by their participation in most stages of production, household economic management, and spending management. Ethnic minority women have to do things like sowing seeds, tending fields, growing vegetables, harvesting, preserving agricultural products, etc., but they also have to take the main responsibility for livestock raising activities because they consider this a form of "housework" or "extra work".
Ethnic minority women are very hard-working, patient and patient, but they are limited by many rules and customs of their families and society. Taking the initiative to do business has never been an easy story, because right from the idea to the implementation, there are many difficulties and barriers. However, with the will and determination to rise up, many ethnic minority women in Bac Giang province have boldly and confidently implemented their start-up ideas associated with local strengths. Accompanying them are women's associations at all levels, especially in supporting women to borrow capital to develop the economy.
