"The circumstances of the incident are being clarified. Eremin's last article for Izvestia was published two days ago, when the journalist told about Russian Armed Forces soldiers training to fight drones with handguns," the newspaper said in a statement.

Later, the Izvestia TV channel reported that Eremin, 42, died from injuries sustained in a Ukrainian FPV drone attack. The tragedy occurred near the village of Priyutnoye, which lies on the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia, two of the Ukrainian territories that Russia has annexed.
This journalist has been working in a special military operation area since February 2022. He was awarded the Second Class Medal for the Fatherland.
Earlier, a member of the Russian Civil Chamber, Alexander Malkevich, told TASS that the chamber would recommend that the war correspondent be posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.
Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, told TASS that the UN opposes the killing of journalists and believes that each case should be fully investigated.
“We oppose the killing of journalists. All such killings must be fully investigated,” he said.
Izvestia said Eremin reported on many of the hottest battles in eastern Ukraine during the 25-month war, including the battle for Mariupol. The journalist also covered the fierce battles in Maryinka and Vuhledar.
