On July 30, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan, Vice Chairwoman of District 7 People's Committee, said that after a period of arrangement, it is expected that by the end of August 2024, the district will launch the Sky Garden culinary commercial street (Tan Phong ward), with the expectation of creating a neighborhood with synchronization and its own characteristics, supporting the development of the district's night-time economy.
Sky Garden culinary commercial street has a scale of 2.6 hectares, located within the scope of Nguyen Van Linh - Pham Van Nghi - Road No. 2 - Bui Bang Doan, part of the "Nighttime economic development project associated with tourism development" of the district, will operate from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. every day.
This is an area with more than 220 high-end business and service establishments that will operate from 6pm to 12am every day. Of these, 125 establishments provide food and beverage services; 40 establishments specialize in beauty care; 25 businesses in the trade and service sectors and 31 accommodation establishments.
Unlike existing walking streets in Ho Chi Minh City, Sky Garden culinary commercial street is exploited on existing status, without new investment and construction, no time restrictions, no vehicle traffic bans...
According to this plan, District 7 will synchronize the brand identity for more than 200 businesses in the implementation area. In addition, households will also receive policy support and connection to tourism programs of the district and city.
In the coming time, all facilities will be equipped with brand identity, QR Code... and mascot to ensure consistency and easy recognition for tourists, and people will feel secure and not worry about snatch buying.
Implement a welcome gate at the beginning of the street with the idea of high-rise buildings with dynamic characteristics of District 7.
"With the number of available businesses, the district does not have to invite additional external partners, but initially focuses on completing the legal synchronization and higher recognition for the neighborhood," explained a representative of District 7 People's Committee.
Sky Garden culinary commercial street is one of three areas in the pilot plan to develop the night-time economy associated with tourism development in District 7, approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at the end of 2023.
The two areas of Crescent Lake - Phu My Hung Starlight Bridge (Tan Phu and Tan Phong wards) and Road No. 11N - Banking Residential Area (Tan Thuan Tay ward) are also being studied for implementation methods, but will focus on the high-end segment.
With the characteristics of a locality with many multinational citizens, the People's Committee of District 7 has many advantages to develop tourism, culinary and night-time economic programs. The Steering Committee for Tourism Development of District 7 assessed that these are well-performing businesses, with many shops opened by foreigners...
District 7 is the first district approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for a pilot project to develop the night-time economy in conjunction with tourism development. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan, in addition to favorable factors, the difficult problem for the district in the implementation process is the process of arranging it appropriately and gaining the consensus of residents.
"Model night-time food and beverage service commercial areas, located in civilized and modern model urban areas, will create a good impression of the night-time economy in the hearts of residents and visitors," Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan hopes.
