Gasoline prices increase, RON 95 approaches 500 VND/liter mark

The Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance has just adjusted the retail price of gasoline and oil in the adjustment period today, April 3. The application time is from 3:00 p.m. on April 3, 2025.

Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND341/liter, to VND20,373/liter; RON 95 gasoline increased by VND495/liter, to VND20,919/liter.

Similarly, the price of diesel 0.05S: Increased by 261 VND/liter, to 18,478 VND/liter; kerosene increased by 211 VND/liter, to 18,735 VND/liter; mazut 180CST 3.5S increased by 124 VND/kg, to 17,026 VND/kg.

In this management period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance did not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for E5RON92 gasoline, RON95 gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, and mazut oil.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the average price of finished petroleum products in the world between the price adjustment period on March 27, 2025 and the adjustment period on April 3, 2025 is: 83.123 USD/barrel of RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (up 2.107 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.60%); 84.865 USD/barrel of RON95 gasoline (up 2.557 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 3.11%); 87.460 USD/barrel of kerosene (up 1.156 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.34%); 87.198 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel oil (up 1.438 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.68%); 463,715 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S fuel oil (up 4,113 USD/ton, equivalent to an increase of 0.89%).

According to Reuters, at 5:40 a.m. on April 3, both Brent and WTI oil prices fell sharply by about 2%.

Earlier, at the end of the trading session on April 2, oil prices increased slightly. Brent crude oil prices increased by 46 cents, equivalent to 0.6%, to 74.95 USD/barrel, WTI crude oil prices increased by 51 cents, equivalent to 0.7%, to 71.71 USD/barrel. During the session, oil prices increased and decreased, especially keeping the downward trend during the press conference of US President Donald Trump, when he announced the tax rate for trading partners including the European Union, China and South Korea.

During the session, investors ignored US oil inventory data. According to the US Energy Information Administration, US crude oil inventories rose sharply by about 6.2 million barrels. While gasoline inventories fell by 1.6 million barrels, distillate inventories rose by 300,000 barrels.

The market viewed the report as neutral because the increase in crude oil was due to a sharp increase in crude imports from Canada, possibly due to concerns about new tariffs, said UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo.

In the adjustment session on March 27, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased compared to the previous adjustment period, at VND20,032/liter (an increase of VND337/liter). The price of RON 95-III gasoline increased compared to the previous adjustment period, at VND20,424/liter (an increase of VND337/liter).

Prices of oil products fluctuated in different directions. Of which, diesel 0.05S is priced at 18,217 VND/liter (down 324 VND/liter); kerosene has a new price of 18,524 VND/liter (up 406 VND/liter); mazut is priced at 16,902 VND/kg (down 53 VND/kg).

In this management period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance did not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for E5RON92 gasoline, RON95 gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, and mazut oil.

Currently, the price of this fuel has reached its lowest level in nearly 4 years, equivalent to July 2021. Since the beginning of the year, RON 95 gasoline has increased 8 times and decreased 6 times. Diesel has increased 6 times, decreased 6 times and remained unchanged once.
