Agricultural development contributes to sustainable poverty reduction in Te Le

Te Le commune, Tam Nong district has an area of ​​over 1,700 hectares, including over 400 hectares of agricultural land and 755 hectares of hilly forest land. In recent years, implementing poverty reduction and socio-economic development programs, Te Le commune has promoted agricultural development, implemented land consolidation to facilitate cultivation, contributing to increasing income for people.

After implementing land consolidation, people in Te Le commune have had favorable conditions for farming and economic development.

Comrade Nguyen Huu Hung - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: Implementing the Resolution of the District Party Committee on land consolidation, in 2016 and 2017, Te Le commune has implemented the "disruption" of consolidating small plots into large plots of land to facilitate cultivation. Before the consolidation, each household had 15-17 plots of land, fragmented land, and no roads. After the consolidation, the whole commune has built over 14km of graded roads 3.5-5m wide, 2.7km of cement concrete roads within the fields. Each household has 1-2 large plots of land, with a minimum area of ​​over ^700m2 , convenient for cultivation.

In addition, people have the opportunity to apply science and technology to livestock farming, economic development, and introduce new high-quality hybrid corn and rice varieties into cultivation, contributing to increasing income. Many households have boldly converted their model from traditional corn and peanuts to high-quality commodity crops such as hybrid papaya, export cucumbers, etc. Combining fresh flower and sugarcane cultivation to replace traditional crops with low economic efficiency.

Mr. Tran Quang Hao - Zone 4, Te Le Commune said: My family used to grow peanuts but the economic efficiency was not high. After learning from the mass media and receiving advice from the local government, I gradually switched to growing sugarcane and papaya with an area of ​​over 1 hectare. Initially, I saw that the plants grew well, ensuring output.

Thanks to the focus on agricultural development, the commune's average food output is now 410 kg/person/year; average income is 52 million VND/person/year, an increase of 21 million compared to before the consolidation (2015). The poverty rate of the whole commune is now only 2.46%, down 3.25% compared to the beginning of the term. Near-poor households are 6.8%. The commune is building a model new rural area, striving to achieve the status of an advanced new rural commune by 2025.

Along with agricultural development, Te Le commune has also attracted a number of companies and units producing plywood, leather shoes, garments... to invest in the area, not only helping to increase local revenue but also creating jobs on the spot, regularly for over 600 workers with an average income of 8 - 15 million VND/person/year. Typical companies include: Thanh Dat Wood, Cat Trung Thanh...

At the same time, actively implement social security policies and sustainable poverty reduction. Up to now, Te Le commune has been supported by the district with 28 breeding cows, for 9 poor households and 19 near-poor households. The local government has promoted and mobilized people to promote the advantages of the locality with large land areas, many grazing areas, and breeding cows. Currently, some cows have bred, helping to increase economic efficiency for the family.

In the coming time, Te Le commune aims to maintain a reduction in the rate of multidimensional poverty households of 0.15% or more, and a reduction in the rate of near-poor households of 0.35% or more. To achieve this goal, the commune continues to apply scientific and technical advances, new varieties in production, supply corn varieties and build a biomass corn growing model. Encourage the development of livestock and poultry, do a good job of disease prevention for livestock. Along with that, pay more attention to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, improving people's lives.
