In recent times, the synchronous development of rural commercial infrastructure in a modern direction has well served the production and consumption needs in the province and contributed significantly to the National Target Program on new rural construction.

Localities in the province have flexibly combined many capital sources to invest in building new, upgrading and renovating traditional markets. At the same time, businesses and individuals are encouraged to invest and develop modern retail systems in rural areas with models of mini supermarkets, convenience stores, convenience stores, etc. to meet the increasing consumption needs of the people. To date, 188/196 communes in the province have met criterion No. 7 on rural commercial infrastructure. The implementation of investment in essential commercial infrastructure works according to new rural criteria has created a driving force to promote socio-economic development in the communes.

Minh Luong is a mountainous commune in Doan Hung district. In 2021, Minh Luong market received partial funding from the Department of Industry and Trade to build a food safety market model. Comrade Nguyen Ngoc An - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "The commune is supported with funding to build a food safety market, contributing to meeting the criteria on facilities, infrastructure and equipment for food trading at the market in accordance with food safety standards and regulations, bringing traditional markets to operate in a civilized and modern direction. The market infrastructure is invested and upgraded, creating favorable conditions for local people and neighboring communes to exchange and buy and sell goods, meeting the criteria for rural trade infrastructure in the National Target Program on New Rural Development".

The rural population accounts for about 80% of the province's population. The income of rural people is increasingly improving, helping to narrow the gap in living standards between urban and rural areas. Therefore, retail in rural areas still has a lot of room for development.

Along with the traditional market model, there are many convenience stores, specialized stores, chain retail stores invested in the center of commune clusters, commune centers invested by private individuals or enterprises, which are increasingly developing, attracting a large number of interested customers to shop directly. These stores are also invested in technology, organize many marketing programs, introduce shopping trends...

Hoa Duc electronics store in Dong Tien area, Dong Lac commune, Yen Lap district has an average monthly revenue of over 200 million VND. Ms. Bui Thi Hoa - Store owner said: “Our store has been operating since 2020 with the main products being household electrical appliances. The products are quite diverse such as rice cookers, electric fans, hair dryers, irons, air conditioners, water purifiers, washing machines... with prices suitable for people's needs. Although it is a rural area, people's living standards have been improved, we focus on quality, brand, warranty and after-sales policies, so the number of customers and revenue of the store are relatively stable".

The infrastructure of trade and services in rural areas has been invested and upgraded, not only meeting the needs of business and goods trading of the people but also creating a premise for the development of agriculture and rural areas in all aspects. In order to continue upgrading the infrastructure of rural trade, the province encourages social investment in developing infrastructure of markets, supermarkets, and specialized stores in a civilized and modern direction.

Along with that, focus on renovating and upgrading existing markets, improving service quality towards ensuring food safety and commercial civilization. Encourage the development of chains of convenience stores, utility stores, and general stores in rural areas, trading in suitable essential goods, forming a distribution network covering the whole province to better meet the consumption needs of the people.
