To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, on the afternoon of April 16, the Provincial Theater organized a performance of the Cheo play “Nguyen Viet Xuan”. Attending were former provincial leaders and representatives of the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department.
The play “Nguyen Viet Xuan” by author Hong Mac Cat praises the heroic, indomitable fighting spirit and the noble sacrifice of the Communist soldiers in the resistance war against the French and the Americans to save the country of our people from 1954 to 1975. Lieutenant Nguyen Viet Xuan was born in 1933 in Ngu Kien commune, Vinh Tuong district, Vinh Phuc province. He was a Communist soldier with an indomitable spirit, patriotism, and hatred for the enemy; he heroically sacrificed himself at the Western Quang Binh front on November 18, 1964. Hero Nguyen Viet Xuan left behind the immortal saying: “Aim straight at the enemy, shoot!” which became the command of the entire army.
With a professional cast of the Provincial Arts Theater, along with an elaborate stage setting, the performance left deep, lingering emotions for the audience; at the same time, the work contributed to educating the morality, lifestyle, courage, bravery, iron will, and revolutionary ideals of communist soldiers for today's generation. The performance of the play "Nguyen Viet Xuan" is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).
