Promoting the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source”, Thanh Son district always cares for and helps policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services to the revolution through many practical and meaningful activities. The movement of “Repaying gratitude” has been widely spread, contributing to better care for the material and spiritual life of war invalids, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services.

Thanh Son district has actively deployed, promptly and fully implemented the policies of the Party and State on gratitude to Party committees, authorities and people at all levels. The payment of monthly and one-time allowances to policy beneficiaries and meritorious people has been carried out seriously, promptly and to the right beneficiaries... The whole district is paying monthly allowances to 1,238 meritorious people and relatives of those who contributed to the revolution, including 4 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 471 war invalids and sick soldiers...
Practical activities implemented by Thanh Son district include: Supporting the construction of houses for people with meritorious services; coordinating the organization of medical examination and treatment, and medicine distribution; visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services on the occasion of Lunar New Year, War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), etc.
Many houses of meritorious people and policy families have been newly built and repaired in recent years, helping them stabilize their lives, such as the family of Mr. Dao Van Thanh in Mat 1 area, Van Mieu commune; war invalid Ha Van Tang and Mr. Nguyen Van Thu - a person infected with toxic chemicals in Vo Mieu commune... Through grassroots government building mass mobilization programs, every year Thanh Son district allocates the "Repaying gratitude" Fund to build and repair 2-3 houses for meritorious people and relatives of martyrs.
In addition, the district has promoted propaganda and education on the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source”, mobilizing agencies, units, businesses, philanthropists and people to actively participate in supporting the “Repaying gratitude” Fund and gratitude activities. Along with the State budget, the support of people and businesses has helped many war invalids and policy families have new, spacious houses, wheelchairs and appropriate and practical orthopedic devices.
Localities in the district pay attention to and take care of families with meritorious people through specific and practical actions such as: providing technical guidance, supporting plants, breeds, tools for production, helping with working days, helping to access preferential loans with low interest rates... so that families with meritorious people have the conditions to develop the economy and improve their lives.
The Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, units and individuals in the district actively participate in many gratitude activities such as: Women's Unions of some communes help and take care of relatives of martyrs, wounded and seriously ill soldiers; Veterans Association organizes seminars and meetings to educate the younger generation on traditions; Youth Union members of communes and towns clean up the grounds of martyrs' cemeteries, help with work days to level the ground to build houses and gardens for some policy families...
In order to show gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of wounded soldiers, heroic martyrs, and families of policy beneficiaries, together with localities in the district, over the past years, Vo Mieu commune has done a good job of repaying gratitude with meaningful and practical activities.
Secretary of the Youth Union of Vo Mieu Commune Tran Duy Hung shared: “Together with the Party Committee, government and socio-political organizations of the commune, the youth union members of Vo Mieu Commune have carried out many meaningful and practical activities to express gratitude for the great contributions of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and families with meritorious services in the area. More than 100 youth union members participated in “Green Sunday”, cleaning and taking care of flowers and ornamental plants in the martyrs’ cemetery, lighting candles in gratitude, and helping families with meritorious services... Our small actions show the deep gratitude of the young generation to those who have devoted and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland."
