Promoting the power of key press agencies

On the morning of March 26, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia had a working session with leaders of five key political press agencies: Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam Radio, and Vietnam Television.

The working session aimed to evaluate the work of reorganizing the apparatus, building the Project of the national key political press agency; evaluate the information and propaganda work to carry out political tasks in the past time and the key directions and tasks in the coming time; and prepare for activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

In his speech, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia stated that the working session took place in the context that the whole country was looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification - the result of a rapid, bold, unexpected, and decisive revolution. After 50 years, the country continues to carry out a revolution in streamlining the apparatus, efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency, in which the Central Party agencies and key Central press agencies have taken the lead.

Emphasizing that the press is the leading front, the decisive front for the Party to promote ideological and propaganda work in the new situation, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that delegates attending the working session focus on discussing and clarifying four contents: overall review of press agencies to implement the conclusions of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on streamlining the apparatus and promoting the role of key press agencies; review a number of key tasks in propaganda work in the coming time; review preparations for the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, affirming the readiness of the revolutionary press to enter a new era of development with the country, to realize two 100-year goals, which are the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding and the 100th anniversary of the country's founding; Orientation of operations of key press agencies after restructuring and streamlining the apparatus.

The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission emphasized that the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Prime Minister have given very strong instructions to press agencies such as the Communist Magazine, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Vietnam News Agency, and Voice of Vietnam to be more determined, synchronous, and effective, and to carry out Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW in an exemplary manner. Not only must it be streamlined, but the most important thing is the results and effectiveness of ideological, propaganda, and press work.

Reporting on the results of the organization and streamlining of the apparatus according to Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on a number of issues to continue innovating and streamlining the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently, Director of the Press and Publication Department, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Tong Van Thanh said: Immediately after the Central issued Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, 5 key political press agencies developed a plan and implemented the organization and streamlining of the apparatus. At the same time, urgently, seriously and resolutely carry out the organization and streamlining of the apparatus; strictly implement the policy of ending operations, transferring, receiving, and supplementing functions and tasks between units to develop and complete the Project to submit to the Politburo and the Government to issue decisions and Decrees on the organization and functions and tasks of each agency and unit.

The apparatus of Nhan Dan Newspaper after the organization was reorganized and streamlined, reducing from 25 affiliated units to 15 units. The Politburo issued Decision No. 218-QD/TW regulating the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of Nhan Dan Newspaper.

After taking over the functions and tasks of the magazines of the Central Party Committees, the Communist Magazine continued to reorganize and streamline its operational apparatus, with an Editorial Board and 13 affiliated department-level units; only retaining the department-level units in units that were truly necessary.

Vietnam News Agency (VNA) after rearranging and restructuring its affiliated units, reducing 4 units (from 26 to 22 units) of focal units at the department level and equivalent; ending the operation of the News Agency Television Center, researching restructuring, rearranging and adding functions and tasks to the News Agency Media Development Center to enhance the ability to provide digital content information products and new services.

After the reorganization and streamlining of the organization, the Voice of Vietnam Radio Station has reduced to 21 units. Compared to Decree No. 92/2022/ND-CP, the organizational structure of the Voice of Vietnam Radio Station has reduced 5 affiliated units and renamed some affiliated units to suit the actual situation.

After reorganization and streamlining, Vietnam Television has reduced to 23 Department-level units (reduced by 6 Department-level units). Vietnam Television has taken over the functions and tasks of Nhan Dan Television, National Assembly Television, News Agency Television, VOV Television, and VTC Digital Television.

After listening to the opinions of leaders of key press agencies; Vietnam Journalists Association; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant agencies, in his concluding remarks at the working session, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia praised the efforts, revolutionary, pioneering and professional character of key press agencies in carrying out key, regular and ad hoc tasks assigned by the Party and State, including the arrangement and streamlining of the organizational apparatus.

The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission acknowledged and highly appreciated the active, proactive and timely participation of key political press agencies in disseminating the implementation of political tasks according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the target of double-digit economic growth, the Party's new guidelines and policies such as Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, private economic development and the organization of the summary of the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW.

According to the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, in implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, the press must take the lead. And the force that most strongly implements this work is the main press agencies. In the past, the main press agencies have done this work well and in the coming time, they need to continue to promote, diversify and enrich it.

Not only doing a good job in propaganda work, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia also highly appreciated the great efforts of press agencies, especially key press agencies in pioneering, strictly complying with and implementing in a short time the Party and State's policy on streamlining the organizational apparatus.

"The initial success of the organizational arrangement is good, but we still have to continue to do better. The spirit is to continue to review the apparatus," comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized.

Sharing the opinions of leaders of key press agencies and the Vietnam Journalists Association on the difficulties and obstacles in organizing the apparatus and implementing political tasks, the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission acknowledged and assigned the functional units of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to study, review and report to competent authorities for resolution.

Noting the press work in the coming time, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that key press agencies need to participate more actively in providing and advising the Party and State on information on the world, regional and domestic situations in order to have correct and accurate assessments of advantages, difficulties and challenges, thereby proposing appropriate solutions and policies. With that requirement, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also suggested that the competent agencies thoroughly grasp the direction of General Secretary To Lam and the Party and State leaders in renewing thinking and working methods, proactively providing information to the press, especially to key press agencies to promptly have systematic and scientific information channels.

In addition, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also noted that press agencies need to propagate and contribute to the innovation of thinking and working methods of cadres in the political system; especially in continuing to implement the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus according to Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, the organization of Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress; along with that, research and open up columns and thematic exchange programs on new policies and viewpoints of the Party and State; ensure the mainstream information flow on revolutionary traditions, promote the spirit of 50 years of national unification, and arouse the aspiration for the development of a peaceful, stable and prosperous country.

Regarding the preparation for the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the anniversary should create highlights, raise the level to a new level, go into depth, affirm a press with a 100-year tradition and convey messages for the next 100 years.
