The construction contractor launched a competition to accelerate and complete many important items before May 19, striving to bring the new Phong Chau bridge project (Phu Tho) to the finish line on December 22, 2025.

Today (February 22), the Executive Board of Truong Son 9 (Army Corps 12 - Truong Son Construction Corporation) held a launching ceremony for the "Lightning Speed - Victory" peak emulation campaign from March 1, 2025 to May 19, 2025 at the new Phong Chau bridge construction investment project, Phu Tho province.

Appreciating the efforts of the investor and contractor in organizing the construction regardless of day, night, holidays, and Tet, Deputy Minister Lam expressed his joy that at present, the major "bottlenecks" of the project have been gradually removed.
"In the past, the locality has solved the problem of land clearance well. Based on that favorable condition, investors and construction units need to deploy design documents to meet the construction schedule, focus resources to speed up the progress further, and strive to bring the project to the finish line on December 22.
"The payment acceptance records also need to be carried out quickly, promptly, and in accordance with regulations," the Deputy Minister directed, noting that at the construction site, the consultant has made assessments of the flow and riverbed erosion.
The contractor and Thang Long Project Management Board need to coordinate to develop a construction plan for the embankment suitable to the specific terrain of the area.

Launching the competition at the project, Colonel Tran Ngoc Tuan, Director of the Executive Board, said that although the new Phong Chau bridge project was deployed under an emergency order, both designed and constructed, with the attention of ministries, branches, local authorities, and units, they coordinated closely, took advantage of favorable weather, and organized construction to ensure the achievement of the project's goals.
According to Mr. Tuan, during the competition, the goal set for the 3 construction fronts is to take advantage of favorable weather, focus on human resources, means, and finance, speed up construction to meet the progress requirements of the Investor; and do a good job of acceptance, payment, and capital recovery.
The items that are focused on speeding up progress include: Beam casting, beam installation, completion of cross beams, corresponding bridge decks; Completion of piers T4, T5, block K0 and completion of pier M2 (Tam Nong district).
The total production value of the competition is more than 119 billion VND; Acceptance value is more than 118 billion VND.
Leaders of the Ministry of Transport, the Department of Construction Investment Management and the 12th Army Corps presented gifts to encourage the spirit of officers, engineers and workers constructing the new Phong Chau bridge.
"In order for the emulation campaign to achieve the set plan, the management board's staff will closely follow the construction site to flexibly regulate the construction progress according to the progress milestones agreed upon by the investor; promptly resolve legal procedures, instruct and direct the unit to promote the work of establishing and approving construction organization measures in a timely manner as a basis for approving the construction drawing estimate to serve the acceptance and payment...
Construction units also need to closely follow the set goals, develop specific production plans, regularly evaluate implementation progress to have adjustment measures, and propose solutions to remove difficulties during the implementation process," said Colonel Tran Ngoc Tuan.
Taking on the task of constructing the Phong Chau bridge project in the context of both building a new bridge and demolishing the old one, Corps 12 and the construction units encountered many difficulties due to the terrain and geology. However, with the tradition of the heroic Truong Son Army and being a professional contractor constructing many key national traffic projects, the Corps organized the construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams" ahead of schedule and committed to completing the project before December 22, 2025, meeting the expectations of the Prime Minister, investors, local authorities and people.

Praising the spirit of efforts to stay on the construction site day and night, through holidays, Tet, and days off of the staff, engineers, and workers, Mr. Dinh Cong Minh, Director of Thang Long Project Management Board, also noted that currently, the workload is still very large, first of all, the construction of the lower structure items to overcome the small flood season, towards the finish line on December 22, 2025.
"Relevant units need to take advantage of favorable weather and add more resources to achieve the set goals by May 19, 2025.
As the investor, Thang Long Project Management Board will always accompany the units throughout the construction process, promptly handle issues related to capital and construction design to bring the project to the finish line as soon as possible, quickly overcome the traffic disruption between the two districts: Tam Nong, Lam Thao, ease the pain for local people, facilitate traffic, and contribute to the development of local socio-economics," said Mr. Minh.
Recalling the time when the Truong Son "soldier workers" "guarded Tet", working through New Year's Eve to drill bored piles and pour concrete, according to Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Commander of the 12th Army Corps, that image left a deep impression on the people and local authorities.
The Deputy Commander of the 12th Corps said that up to now, two potentially difficult items, namely bored piles and demolition of the old bridge, have been completed. The construction of bored piles for the T4 and T5 piers, although very difficult, was still 10 days ahead of schedule.
Based on the implementation, the contractor aims to complete pouring concrete to seal the bottom of pier T4 and T5 before March 5, complete concrete foundation before March 18, complete the pier body to overcome the small flood before April 14 and complete casting the K0 block on the top of the pier before May 19, 2025.
"To continue accelerating production, construction units and teams need to gather materials and equipment in advance so that the previous item can be completed and the next item can be deployed immediately; Clearly assign and scientifically manage construction teams according to the direction of the Prime Minister: "Clear people, clear work, clear responsibility, clear time, clear efficiency"; Absolutely ensure traffic safety and labor safety.
In addition to progress, quality and aesthetics of the project must also be focused on so that the bridge becomes a highlight in the local traffic infrastructure picture," the leader of Army Corps 12 assigned the task.
According to the approved plan, the new Phong Chau bridge project - National Highway 32C, Phu Tho province is invested in according to the emergency construction order with a total length of nearly 653m.
In which, the main bridge has a length of more than 383m (calculated to the end of the abutment).
Starting point at Km 0+00 (about Km 21+50.0 of National Highway 32C avoiding Viet Tri City), in Phung Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District, Phu Tho Province.
End point at Km 0+652.88 (about Km 18+551.4 National Highway 32C), in Van Xuan commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province.
The bridge is permanently built with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete with a bridge width of 20.5m, suitable for the width of the roadbed.
The total project investment is more than 635 billion VND, using the central budget reserve in 2024.
