Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong said: Towards this important anniversary, in order to vividly portray and bring the image of the elected body closer to the people, to express the will, sentiment and responsibility of the people, and to contribute to improving the quality and effectiveness of information and propaganda work on the activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils, the National Assembly Office presided over and coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Vietnam Musicians' Association; and the Hanoi Music Association to organize the Campaign to compose songs about the National Assembly and People's Councils.
“The campaign to compose songs about the National Assembly and People’s Councils is organized to attract a large number of professional and non-professional musicians to participate. Along with that, it promotes talent and creativity, creating musical works of high value in terms of ideological and artistic content, with long-lasting vitality, going through the years, clearly depicting the stature, career, position and prestige of the Vietnamese people,” said Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong.
According to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong, composing about elected bodies is a difficult topic, but the Organizing Committee believes that the great achievements of 80 years of the Vietnamese National Assembly, along with the positive results, the winds of innovation in the activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils in recent times, the people's trust, aspirations and expectations... will be a rich source of material to inspire musicians to compose good songs with quality and artistic value about the National Assembly and People's Councils, to continue to build a National Assembly and People's Council that is always innovative, acts resolutely for the ultimate goal of serving the interests of the nation, the people, and for the happiness of the people.
The selected songs will be widely promoted on mass media and performed at the National Rally to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly.
According to the Organizing Committee, musical works participating in the Campaign need to closely follow the Organizing Plan and focus on reflecting the main contents such as highlighting the thousands of years of national history, with the spirit of diligence, creativity in labor, bravery in fighting to build and defend the country, and the Vietnamese people have forged the tradition of solidarity, humanity, resilience, and indomitability of the nation, building the Vietnamese culture.
The songs were composed to reflect the history of formation, development, organization and operation of the National Assembly of Vietnam in association with the implementation of the functions of making the Constitution, legislation, supervision, deciding on important issues of the country and foreign affairs; activities of the National Assembly agencies, agencies under the National Assembly Standing Committee; election of National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels; activities of National Assembly delegations, National Assembly deputies, People's Councils at all levels.
Praising and reflecting on the great achievements of the Vietnamese National Assembly over the past nearly 80 years; building the image of the Vietnamese National Assembly as always dynamic, creative and constantly innovative; on the political awareness, will, aspiration, belief and consensus of participation and support of the people for the decisions of the National Assembly; thereby, contributing to the cause of building and perfecting the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law State of the people, by the people, for the people.
According to the contest rules, the participating genre is songs performed in any form such as solo, duet, trio, group, choir... Each author or group of authors can submit a maximum of 3 works. The content of the song does not violate Vietnamese customs and traditions, closely follows the theme of the composition and is within the framework of legal regulations... The participating work must be a new work, unpublished in any form, and free of copyright disputes.
The deadline for receiving entries is from today until 5:00 p.m. on December 10, 2024. The award ceremony and gala night to introduce the winning song are expected to take place in the first quarter of 2025. The Organizing Committee will award 1 special prize of 500 million VND, 3 A prizes of 150 million VND each, 5 B prizes of 100 million VND each, 9 C prizes of 50 million VND each and 15 consolation prizes of 20 million VND each. In addition, there is 1 prize for an impressive song on the theme worth 30 million VND, 1 prize for a song that spreads and inspires the masses on the theme worth 30 million VND.
