On February 7, at Yen Trung Lake Provincial Tourist Area (Uong Bi City), Quang Ninh Province held the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival "Forever grateful to Uncle Ho" in the Spring of At Ty 2025. Comrade Tran Hong Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, attended the launching ceremony. Also attending were comrade Le Minh Hoan, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Government Office. On the side of Quang Ninh Province, there was comrade Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In recent years, following Uncle Ho's teaching "Spring is the Tree Planting Festival - Making the country more and more springy", Tree Planting Festival has become a festival of the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army; an activity with profound and substantial traditional meaning. At the same time, it demonstrates Vietnam's commitment to the international community and implements the National strategy on climate change, improving the quality of people's lives.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival "Forever grateful to Uncle Ho" Spring At Ty 2025, comrade Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that in recent years, tree planting and afforestation work has been actively and synchronously implemented by local Party committees, authorities, and sectors at all levels with practical and effective solutions. Quang Ninh province is one of the leading provinces in issuing the Provincial Party Committee's specialized Resolution on sustainable forestry economic development, green development, and circularity. Every year, the whole province plants over 12,000 hectares of forest. In 2024 alone, over 14,000 hectares of forests of all kinds will be planted. Of which, there are over 800 hectares of large-scale lim, giổi, and lát forests.
In September 2024, storm No. 3 Yagi caused huge damage to the forest area in the province with 128,000 hectares broken, the forest cover rate decreased to an estimated 42%. The total damage value is estimated at over 5,000 billion VND, causing damage to the economy as well as directly affecting the environment, landscape, and water resources. Implementing the drastic directions of the Central, Government, Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, immediately after storm No. 3, localities, enterprises, and forest planting units quickly overcame the damage, promptly implemented measures to protect and develop forests, and urgently restored production. The province also directed localities and units to develop and implement policies to support forest owners to urgently develop and implement solutions to rebuild the forestry sector.
The Resolution on the province's tasks in 2025 has set the target of maintaining a forest cover rate of over 42% and improving forest quality, helping Quang Ninh's forest economy to quickly recover and develop. Accordingly, in 2025, Quang Ninh province strives to plant over 31,847 hectares of concentrated forests, including 2,724 hectares of protective forests; 29,123 hectares of production forests, 2.4 times higher than the 2024 forest planting target, demonstrating the province's high determination in developing and restoring forestry production after storm No. 3.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also affirmed that planting trees and forests is a practical and meaningful activity, marking the beginning of a new year, a new spring, a new period of the country with the aspiration of the nation to rise up. During this period, the whole province strives to plant 1 million trees, equivalent to 1,000 hectares of concentrated forest.
At the launching ceremony, comrade Tran Hong Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, presented Uong Bi city with 1,100 Caribbean pine trees.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister, delegates and people in Uong Bi City planted 1,100 pine trees in the pine forest area of Yen Trung Lake.
Talking to officials and people, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha expressed his joy and excitement at the results achieved in tree planting and afforestation work in the whole province; acknowledged and commended agencies, units and localities in the province for having many good, practical and effective ways of doing things with very specific messages in response to the Tree Planting Festival.
To continue to effectively organize the Tet tree planting movement “Forever grateful to Uncle Ho”, the Deputy Prime Minister called on all agencies, units, localities, cadres, party members and people to continue to enthusiastically participate in tree planting right from the first days of Spring; plant trees to restore and rebuild the forest area damaged by storm No. 3; strengthen forest management, care and protection. Thereby, contributing significantly to sustainable socio-economic development associated with environmental protection, multiplying the green color of forests after the heavy damage caused by storm No. 3.
