France arrests terrorist suspect in synagogue fire

This is believed to be a terrorist attack, the man was wearing a shirt with the Palestinian flag when he carried out the incident at the La Grande Motte resort.

Police said the man fled after setting off the fire and explosion but was later arrested in the nearby town of Nimes. Two other people linked to the suspect have also been arrested.

In the incident, two cars outside the mosque were set on fire and a gas cylinder in the car exploded, injuring a police officer. However, no one was killed.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called it a “terrorist act” and said the government would do everything possible to catch the suspect. Security at Jewish sites across France has been increased following the incident.

The attack comes as France and other European countries are on high alert for terrorism due to the fallout from the conflict in Gaza.
