Two fertilizer production and trading units of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), namely PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation - JSC (PVFCCo - Phu My Fertilizer) and PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (PVCFC - Ca Mau Fertilizer) have been affirming their pivotal role in the country's agriculture, actively contributing to maintaining food security and developing the country's socio-economy.
Phu My Fertilizer - 20 years of bumper crops
Exactly 20 years ago, Phu My Fertilizer Plant, the first plant in Vietnam belonging to the downstream of the Oil and Gas industry with a total investment of 445 million USD and a capacity of 740,000 tons of urea/year, was officially put into commercial operation. The plant met approximately 50% of the domestic demand for nitrogen fertilizer at that time, contributing to significantly reducing dependence on imported nitrogen fertilizer, creating a stable and abundant supply of fertilizer, thereby contributing to ensuring national food security.
Over the past 20 years, in order to provide abundant, high-quality, and reasonably priced fertilizer sources, PVFCCo has made efforts to carry out investment projects, research and develop new products, and expand its fertilizer product line to meet the increasingly high and diverse needs of modern agriculture.
From the original factory, PVFCCo has invested in and put into operation many new projects, significantly increasing the output and variety of fertilizers. A typical example is the Complex of Investment Projects to increase the capacity of the NH3 workshop and the NPK Fertilizer Production Plant using chemical technology, with a capacity of 250,000 tons/year. Currently, the Phu My NPK product line with nearly 50 formulas has become one of PVFCCo's main product lines, recognized and highly appreciated by customers, rising to the top of the NPK mixed fertilizer brands in Vietnam.
From having only one product, urea, PVFCCo has successfully developed the Phu My Fertilizer product line including urea, NPK, potassium, DAP, SA... Regularly in recent years, PVFCCo has continuously launched new, pioneering products in the market such as Phu My Urea + Ke Bo (2020), Phu My NPK + microorganisms (2022) and especially the Phu My Garden product line dedicated to urban agriculture (2023).
Along with production and business tasks, PVFCCo always focuses on implementing social security work. Up to now, PVFCCo has spent more than 1,200 billion VND on social security work with nearly 26,000 solidarity houses, gratitude houses, nearly 300 medical - educational works, rural bridges, hundreds of thousands of relief gifts for victims affected by natural disasters, Tet gifts for the poor, scholarships for students... At the same time, in order to accompany and provide practical support to farmers, every year, PVFCCo regularly organizes programs to guide effective and economical farming techniques as well as increase valuable gift packages to help farmers reproduce effectively...
It can be affirmed that over the past 20 years, Phu My Fertilizer has persistently carried out its mission, contributing to making Vietnam one of the leading agricultural export powers. Even in times of extremely difficult production and business activities such as after the Covid-19 pandemic, PVFCCo/Phu My Fertilizer Plant still strives to ensure sufficient and timely fertilizer supply for farmers nationwide, maintain the domestic market, and contribute to the overall success of the country's agriculture.
Ca Mau Fertilizer - A bright spot in the southernmost region of the country
In 2011, in the southernmost part of the country, Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant - the last piece of the Ca Mau Gas - Power - Fertilizer Complex officially came into operation, with a designed capacity of 800,000 tons/year with modern granular urea products. This is a large and important project of the Mekong Delta, creating the initiative to supply fertilizers for agricultural production and export, contributing to ensuring food security, providing products for agricultural development of the region, the largest rice granary of the country.
After 13 years of development, PVCFC has researched and launched many high-quality products to the market, best meeting all market needs. In addition to granular urea, Ca Mau Fertilizer brand also has N.Humate+TE and N46.Plus... and famous high-quality organic fertilizer products such as OM CAMAU.

In 2022, PVCFC will put into operation an NPK factory with a designed capacity of 300,000 tons of NPK fertilizer/year at competitive prices, contributing to the stability of the fertilizer market. In particular, from April 1, 2024, PVCFC has completed the M&A deal of the NPK Factory owned by Taekwang-Huchems Group (now Han-Viet Fertilizer Company Limited, with 100% charter capital held by PVCFC) to improve competitiveness and long-term market advantages for high-quality fertilizer products, contributing to increasing the value chain as well as taking advantage of warehouse and logistics and increasing revenue for the company.
Up to now, PVCFC's total production output has reached more than 10.76 million tons of nitrogen, contributing VND 2.15 trillion to the State budget. Together with other units in the cluster, Ca Mau Fertilizer has contributed to changing and shifting the structure of the Mekong Delta in general and Ca Mau province in particular, creating jobs for thousands of workers in Ca Mau province and the region, making a positive contribution to the State budget.
In addition, promoting the role of national key projects, from the construction stage until the projects are completed and put into operation, social security work in Ca Mau province has always been of interest to the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and units in the cluster, actively implementing. Specifically, such as supporting the construction of gratitude houses, policy houses; supporting investment in upgrading and building schools, medical stations; building rural traffic bridges; awarding scholarships for Ca Mau Fertilizer - Golden Pearls...
Since the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant went into commercial operation (2012) up to now, in parallel with production and business activities, PVCFC has also participated in and actively contributed to social security activities. PVCFC's Board of Directors determined that this is not only a task but also a sense of sharing and caring for the community, especially where the plant is located. In Ca Mau province alone, PVCFC has supported social security work for the province with a total budget of nearly 80 billion VND; about 500 billion VND for the whole country.
After 13 years of development, Ca Mau Fertilizer has strongly grown like the image of mangrove and cajuput trees in the South and achieved proud achievements, actively contributing to maintaining agricultural security, promoting socio-economic development in the southernmost region of the country in particular and the whole country in general.
