Mr. Trump made the statement at a campaign rally in Philadelphia last week, where he presented his action plan ahead of the presidential election in November, according to GB News.

The Republican candidate has pledged to give police more immunity so they can be tougher on criminals. He has criticized President Joe Biden and the Democrats for causing crime to rise so much that stores are having to “lock up all the soap.”

Watch Mr. Trump complain that his wife doesn't let him eat bacon because it's too expensive.

"The drugstores have to lock up all the soap. It's soap. You want a little bar of soap? It's a big deal. Open the glass case, open the steel case," Trump said. "Bacon, too. It's become something that a lot of Americans can't touch. I don't even buy bacon anymore. It's too expensive! I tell my wife I want bacon and she says 'no, sorry.' It's too expensive," Trump, who is worth a billion dollars, told voters. According to Forbes, Trump has a net worth of $2.3 billion.

During the rally, Mr Trump criticized his successor for the current state of the economy, which he called "hyperinflation". "Energy is what caused the hyperinflation that we had and then everything caught up. Have you ever seen the price of bacon go up four times in three years?" Mr Trump asked.

The former president criticized Mr Biden for suggesting that Americans could afford the government's tax rates amid such inflation. "They don't have money to spend. They're out of money. If you miss a few days of work, you can imagine not being able to pay your bills."
