(CLO) US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed investment banking billionaire Warren Stephens as his special envoy to the UK, a prestigious post for the Republican donor who contributed $2 million to his campaign this year.
In a post on Truth Social on the evening of December 2, Mr. Trump announced that he would choose investment banking billionaire Warren Stephens as the US special envoy to the Court of Saint James, UK. This choice must be approved by the US Senate.

"Warren has always dreamed of serving the United States full-time. I am thrilled that he will now have that opportunity as America's top diplomat representing one of America's most beloved and cherished allies," Trump said in his post.
Mr. Stephens is currently chairman, chief executive officer and president of Stephens Inc., a financial services company based in Little Rock, Arkansas, which he took over from his father.
In building his team, Mr. Trump has nominated many loyal supporters, especially billionaires and tycoons, to important positions in the cabinet and senior diplomacy.
Over the weekend, Mr. Trump announced plans to nominate Charles Kushner, real estate developer and father-in-law of his daughter, Jared Kushner, as Ambassador to France.
Trump has previously nominated several billionaires to his cabinet, especially those who helped him during his campaign - most notably billionaire Elon Musk. In his first term, Trump selected Robert "Woody" Johnson, a major donor and tycoon who owns the New York Jets football team, as Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
