On the official website of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, information was posted that Mr. Le Anh Tu (Thich Minh Tue) was fully aware of his rights and obligations as a citizen and voluntarily stopped walking for alms.
Previously, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha issued a document confirming that Mr. Le Anh Tu is not a Buddhist monk; Mr. Le Anh Tu himself does not consider himself a Buddhist monk, but is only a citizen studying and practicing according to the teachings of Buddha.

According to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Mr. Le Anh Tu (Thich Minh Tue) was born in 1981 in Ky Van commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province, with permanent residence registration at Village 6, Ia To commune, Ia Grai district, Gia Lai province. He currently has no fixed residence address and has not yet obtained a citizen identification card.
From 2017 to 2023, Mr. Tu practiced self-cultivation, practiced alms-giving, and walked from the South to the North and vice versa three times. During that time, Mr. Tu's travel and practice of vows took place smoothly, without any difficulties or obstacles, and did not affect security and order.
2024 is the fourth time Mr. Tu has walked from Khanh Hoa province, following the main road to Cao Bang - Ha Giang and is currently going in the opposite direction, reaching the Central region.
However, on the return journey of this fourth walk, there were quite a few people following Mr. Tu, affecting security, order and the environment.
Notably, on May 30, a man in the group accompanying Mr. Tu, Luong Thanh Son, residing in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, suffered heat shock, multiple organ failure, and gastrointestinal bleeding leading to death.
Then, on June 2, two women who were following Mr. Tu and his group suffered from heatstroke, exhaustion, and collapsed on the road. The authorities promptly took them to the hospital for treatment.
In response to the above unfortunate incident, the authorities met and discussed with Mr. Le Anh Tu about the State's consistent policy of respecting freedom of belief and religion of all people; local authorities have always cared for and created conditions for Mr. Le Anh Tu to walk and practice according to his wishes, but it is necessary to ensure the safety of people's lives and health and social stability. Mr. Le Anh Tu has clearly recognized the rights and obligations of a citizen, and voluntarily stopped walking to beg for alms.
