According to the BBC, Mr. Trump made the announcement late on the afternoon of November 23, naming the head of the America First Policy Institute to the position of Secretary of Agriculture. Mr. Donald Trump stated: "As Secretary of Agriculture, Ms. Brooke will lead the effort to protect American farmers, who are truly the backbone of our country." The nomination of Ms. Brooke Rollins marks the end of a series of rapid and sometimes dramatic nominations for the head of important US agencies. Ms. Brooke Rollins has been a top ally of Mr. Trump for many years. She is the co-founder and president of the America First Policy Institute - a right-wing research group supporting Mr. Trump and has served as director of the Office of American Innovation and acting director of the Domestic Policy Council. Ms. Rollins graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural development and then worked as a lawyer.Trump's new cabinet personnel. Photo: BBC
If confirmed by the Senate, Rollins would oversee farm subsidies, federal nutrition programs, meat inspections and other aspects of the U.S. agriculture, food and forestry industries. The nominee would play a key role in renegotiating the trade deal between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Rollins’s nomination marks the completion of Trump’s cabinet appointments. Each of Trump’s nominees must still be confirmed by the Senate. The picks range from Trump loyalists to former political opponents.Vietnamnet.vn
