TPO - While traveling through the Saigon River Tunnel from District 1 to Thu Duc City, the front of a car suddenly caught fire. Authorities had to temporarily close the Saigon River Tunnel to handle the incident.
On the evening of August 2, Ho Chi Minh City authorities had to temporarily close the Thu Thiem Tunnel (Saigon River Tunnel) in the direction from District 1 to Thu Duc City to handle the incident of a car burning inside the tunnel.
According to initial information, at around 6:32 p.m. the same day, a car with license plate 49A-42214 was traveling through the Saigon River tunnel (from District 1 to Thu Duc City). At km 0+788 (E7), the front of the car's hood suddenly caught fire.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Traffic Management Center (the unit managing the Saigon River Tunnel) said that through the monitoring system, the unit recorded that the car spontaneously caught fire when entering the tunnel and did not collide with other vehicles. The incident was quickly handled by the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Traffic Management Center in coordination with related units, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Currently, the burnt car has been taken out by a rescue vehicle. At around 8:00 p.m. the same day, the Saigon River tunnel has reopened, with vehicles moving normally from District 1 to Thu Duc City.
The cause of the incident is being further investigated by the authorities.
