Singer Ngoc Anh is the ex-wife of Tran Hung - the son of People's Artist Tuong Vi and musician Tran Chuong. The female singer maintains a harmonious relationship and often visits her ex-mother-in-law every time she returns to Vietnam.
"Thank you, dear mother, for always missing me and my grandchildren. We didn't have time to say goodbye to you, but we will visit you often, just like I have been visiting you these past days," Ngoc Anh wrote on her personal page.
People's Artist Tuong Vi was born in 1938 in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province. In 1967, she graduated from the Vocal Music Department of the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music).
In 1974, she attended the Sofia Conservatory of Music, Bulgaria.
During the war years, the female singer performed in many places with the art troupe.
She recorded many famous songs on the radio of Voice of Vietnam such as Ta Lu zither, You are Po Lang flower, Nguoi con gai song La, Canh chim bao tin vui, Nguoi lai do tren song Po Co, Bong cay Kơ-nia, Suoi Lenin...
During her career, she sang many songs, but the one that audiences remember the most is The Girl Sharpening Bamboo Spikes (Hoang Hiep, poem by Lo Mo Y Choi).
People's Artist Tuong Vi had the honor of performing many times before President Ho Chi Minh and was chosen to perform in many countries around the world such as the former Soviet Union, Poland, Chile...
With her contributions to art, the female artist was soon awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 1984 and People's Artist in 1993. She was also honored to be a rare artist whose name was listed in the Vietnam Military Encyclopedia, published in 1996.
