The enrollment plan for grade 10 of public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City is implemented as follows:
Admission objects: Students graduating from junior high school in the 2024-2025 school year, in Ho Chi Minh City within the prescribed age, are eligible to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools.
Admission method: Implemented in 2 ways:
Admission: Thanh An Secondary School - High School, Can Gio District (only for students who graduated from secondary school at this school in the 2024 - 2025 school year).
Entrance exam: Conducted for candidates who graduated from junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City and wish to enroll in high schools in the city.
- The recruitment process is carried out in 2 stages:
+ Phase 1: Students register for 3 priority wishes 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools.
+ Phase 2: Depending on the actual application situation at high schools and the needs of high schools, the Department of Education and Training decides to recruit additional students and has written instructions to ensure the rights of candidates, on the basis of recruiting enough students for schools that are still lacking many students.
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also noted:
+ Students choose to register their wishes near their current residence to avoid being admitted but not submitting their application.
+ Students are not allowed to change their wishes after the deadline for adjusting wishes has expired according to regulations.
Candidates at a 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City
Priority and incentive points are as follows:
- Priority and incentive points are awarded according to Article 14 of the Ministry of Education and Training's Admission Regulations.
- Information on registration process, documents, evidence, implementation time, and some related regulations are implemented according to the guidance documents of the Department of Education and Training.
- Additional points in the 10th grade entrance exam are applied as follows: Students who enjoy multiple preferential and incentive policies at the same time will receive a maximum of 3.5 points. Additional points are only applied to those who have 3 wishes to enter a public high school.
To take the 10th grade exam, candidates must take 3 essay tests including math, literature (120 minutes/subject), and foreign language (first foreign language being studied at school) within 90 minutes.
- Exam on June 6 and 7
- The test score is the sum of the component scores of each question in the test, the test score is calculated on a 10-point scale, with odd points up to 0.25.
- Exam score coefficient: math, literature and foreign language all have coefficient 1.
- Admission score: is the total score of three exams and additional points for the subject.
Candidates must take all 3 exams and not receive a score of 0 in any exam.
Students register for 3 wishes arranged in order of priority from highest to lowest (wish 1, 2, 3). If they are admitted to a wish, they must study in that wish and cannot change their wish.
Entrance exam to specialized grade 10, as follows:
Students graduating from secondary school in the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City within the prescribed age.
- The results of the training and learning assessment for the entire school year of grades 6, 7, and 8 must be Fair or higher, and for grade 9 it must be Good.
- Admission method: entrance exam.
- Specialized schools include Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted. Both schools are allowed to accept candidates who have graduated from junior high school from other provinces and cities, provided that these candidates fully meet the requirements according to current regulations of the exam. Registration is carried out according to the guidance documents of the Department of Education and Training.
- Number of subjects and exams: 4 essay exams including 3 non-specialized exams including math, literature (120 minutes/subject), foreign language (Foreign language 1 currently studying at school, 90 minutes) and 1 specialized exam according to the registered subject (150 minutes).
The test score is the sum of the component scores of each question in the test, the test score is calculated on a 10-point scale, with odd points up to 0.25.
- Exam score coefficient: non-major exam scores are coefficient 1 and specialized exam scores are coefficient 2.
- Exam date: June 6 and 7
- Admission score to specialized classes is the sum of: Literature score + Foreign language score + Math score + (specialized subject score x 2).
- Admission principles: Only consider candidates who are eligible to take the entrance exam, have taken all required exams, have not violated exam regulations during the entrance exam, and have all exams scored greater than 2.
- Admission method: Based on the regulations on admission scores to specialized classes, from high to low to recruit enough assigned quotas for each specialized subject.
- Students who register have 2 priority wishes to enter specialized classes. Arrange in order of priority from high to low (wish 1, 2), if admitted to a wish, they must study in that wish, cannot change wishes.
Depending on the actual application situation at specialized high schools, the Department of Education and Training will consider and decide on organizing additional specialized entrance exams after the end of the 10th grade school year.
