After many years working at a vegetarian restaurant in Da Nang City, realizing the value of brown rice for human life and health, Ms. Le Hong Hanh (Ninh Phuoc Commune, Nong Son) launched a brown rice product.

To increase the value of local agricultural products, provide clean and safe products to consumers, Ms. Hanh signed contracts with nearly 20 households in the district to produce brown rice with organic standards, completely without spraying pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Ms. Hanh invested in a rice mill and purchased products from farmers in neighboring localities to produce brown rice products for the market.

“In addition to ensuring raw material sources and improving product quality, I also invest in promotion and expanding the consumption market,” said Ms. Hanh.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Tung - Vice Chairman of Nong Son District People's Committee said that in the past 5 years, the district has actively supported entities to develop OCOP products; regularly opened training courses on contents related to the OCOP program.

On average, each year the district supports from 500 to 800 million VND for entities to have conditions to invest in building new, upgrading infrastructure; purchasing machinery and equipment for production; building brands, establishing labels, product traceability stamps and many other tasks...

In 2023, the locality will support nearly 630 million VND for the subjects to complete the evaluation and classification of OCOP products. There are 5 new products that are assessed to meet OCOP standards at the district level, including: Feng shui statue for vehicles (Phoenix Agarwood business household); Lotus Agarwood landscape (Thập Vạn Hương business household); Bean tea (Doan Thi Thuong business household); Mrs. The - Dai Binh grapefruit peel jam (Dai Binh Xanh business household); Brown rice (Le Hong Hanh business household).

According to the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Nong Son district, up to now, the locality has 19 products that meet 3-star and 4-star OCOP standards. OCOP products ensure comprehensive standards from brand, packaging, label, barcode, code, intellectual property to comprehensive development for a product, bringing quality and safety to consumers.

In recent times, in addition to delivering products directly, almost all manufacturing and trading enterprises in Nong Son have established one or more websites to quickly deliver products and services to consumers.

To promote products further to the market nationwide, some businesses, cooperatives, and production and business establishments also sell products through e-commerce sites such as Lazada, Shopee, Facebook, Zalo, Tiktok, etc.

According to Mr. Tung, to support the development of OCOP products, every year, along with the provincial budget, the District People's Committee allocates the economic career budget to support entities participating in promoting and introducing products.

At the same time, promote investment promotion activities to advertise and bring OCOP products to consumers, increasing people's income.

Direct the agricultural sector to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, towns and OCOP entities to complete legal procedures and documents to participate in the assessment and classification of OCOP products from 3-star to 4-star, from 4-star to 5-star.

“In the coming time, the locality will continue to promote propaganda and develop OCOP products towards organic production, ensuring food safety.

"Focus on integrating funding sources from project programs to support investors in production equipment; promote trade promotion activities and effectively promote product brands," said Mr. Tung.
