On the morning of March 31, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Dat - Commander of Military Region 9 chaired a conference to summarize the work of national defense and security education in 2024, and set out directions and tasks for 2025, which was connected online to all points in the entire military region. In 2024, the Party Committee and the Military Region 9 Command will focus on leading and closely directing all aspects of national defense and security education. National defense and security education councils at all levels are regularly strengthened and improved, properly performing their functions, tasks and powers; promoting the role of advising, proposing, and synchronously and effectively implementing national defense and security education in the area with good results.

Notably, the Military School of Military Region 9 and localities have trained 443 classes for more than 37,000 cadres, party members, dignitaries, and officials; the test results are over 89% good and excellent. In the 2023-2024 school year, the national defense and security education centers of the Military School of Military Region 9, Can Tho University, and Tra Vinh University have taught more than 28,000 students according to the curriculum and content of each level and grade, achieving good results.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Dat requested that the national defense and security education councils at all levels continue to thoroughly implement directives and documents from higher levels on national defense and security education; disseminate new points in the Law on Organization of Local Government, especially the construction and operation of defense zones after the merger.
