Sacrificing their own interests, parishioners in Vinh Phuc village actively donated land and assets worth billions of dong to open roads, contributing to building a model new rural area in Nam Phuc Thang commune, Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh).

FROM THE PEOPLE
PIONEER...
For over a month now, the Catholic village of Vinh Phuc (Nam Phuc Thang commune) has been like a giant construction site. From the beginning of the village to the end of the hamlet, everywhere you go, you can see people demolishing fences, structures, and moving property to donate land to widen the road.
Crossing the road in front of the Con Cao church gate (belonging to Vinh Phuoc parish), we came across Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong gathering the remaining bricks to build a fence. With a house with two frontages, Mr. Thuong donated nearly 100m2 of residential land and 53m of fence, 2 gate pillars. With the current land price of about 2 million VND/ m2 , Mr. Thuong's family has donated to the locality an asset value of more than 200 million VND. More importantly, Mr. Thuong's family is not a wealthy household in the commune, the most valuable asset is an old 4-room house, so this is truly a priceless gesture to the community.

OUR CHILDREN ARE LIVING IN PEACE, POLITICAL STABILITY, CONSTANTLY DEVELOPING ECONOMY, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, THERE IS NO REASON TO BE POOR.
............................
Mr. Nguyen Van Thuong confided: “Many people say that nowadays every inch of land is worth its weight in gold, but I think that the life I have today is the result of the blood, sweat and tears, hardships of my ancestors and my generation. Our children are living in peace, with stable politics, a constantly growing economy, being educated and knowledgeable, so there is no reason to be poor. In the future, when the roads are completed and wide, and cars can easily get to the village, the economy will develop even more.”

Also donating land and removing fences, Ms. Pham Thi Huong's family also cut down the roof, demolished the business kiosk, water tank... to make the village road wider and more beautiful. Ms. Huong's house is located in a prime location in the village, so the 140m2 of residential land that her family donated to build the new rural area is worth over 300 million VND.
WE DON'T COMPARE ABOUT THE DAMAGE TO OUR FAMILY BECAUSE THE ROAD PAST THE HOUSE IS WIDEN, THE CONCRETE IS CLEAN, IT'S EASY TO TRAVEL AND THE LANDSCAPE IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE IS MUCH MORE VENTILATE AND BEAUTIFUL.
............................
“Luckily, we had free time at the moment, so my husband and I took advantage of the opportunity to rebuild the fence ourselves and hire more workers to rebuild the roof. The total cost of rebuilding the structures was more than 30 million VND. We did not care about the damage to our family because the road through the house was widened, the concrete was clean, easy to travel, and the landscape in front of the house became much more airy and beautiful. That is the joy and the result that we enjoy from our own contribution,” Ms. Pham Thi Huong shared.

From the pioneers, the land donation campaign to open roads in Vinh Phuc village has been enthusiastically responded by the people. There are families like Ms. Le Thi Ha - although they just finished building a fence and gate post worth nearly 100 million VND 3 months ago, when the local government mobilized - they were ready to demolish the construction to make way for the road going deep into the yard. After dismantling the fence and gate post, Ms. Ha had to hire workers to rebuild it like the original. Although the cost doubled, Ms. Ha still smiled brightly because the road passing through her house was now wider than 5m (previously only 3m - PV), ensuring cars could comfortably pass each other.

Or like Mrs. Pham Thi Chuc's family, although not yet subject to the first phase of clearance, they voluntarily contacted machinery to demolish fences, gate posts, and roofs to widen the road to meet standards. "The road is too narrow, it is difficult for cars to enter the house. Therefore, when I heard the village committee launched a campaign to donate land to widen the road, I immediately agreed to support. Instead of waiting for local support, I directly called the machine to do the job to quickly complete the work and stabilize my life soon" - Mrs. Pham Thi Chuc shared.
...TO THE "REVOLUTION"
IN THE WHOLE PARISH
Statistics from the beginning of the year up to now, the whole Vinh Phuc village has 43 households that have voluntarily donated more than 1,500m2 of residential land, 1,500m2 of fence, hundreds of gate posts, hundreds of trees of all kinds. It is estimated that the amount of land and assets on the land donated by Vinh Phuc villagers to build the new rural area is worth more than 3.5 billion VND.

.............................
43 HOUSEHOLDS VOLUNTARILY DONATE MORE THAN 1,500 SQUARE METERS OF RESIDENTIAL LAND, 1,500 METERS OF FENCE, HUNDREDS OF GATE COLUMNS, HUNDREDS OF TREES OF VARIOUS KINDS... ESTIMATEDLY WORTH MORE THAN 3.5 BILLION VND.
After mobilizing the people to donate land, the Vinh Phuc Village Front Working Committee focused on leveling the ground and clearing the 1.5 km corridor of the main roads in the village. From roads that were only 2-3m wide, the roads in the inter-family clusters 1, 2, 3 of Vinh Phuc Village have now been widened to at least 5m, ensuring the standards for building new rural areas.

Mr. Tran Xuan Ly - Head of Vinh Phuc village said: “Previously, the traffic system in the village was very narrow, if a car entered, motorbikes going in the opposite direction had to back up. Therefore, when we held a meeting to discuss the policy of opening a road, the villagers enthusiastically responded. However, the implementation process also encountered some disagreements, because some people said that they had already donated land before, now donating again would be a disadvantage. Therefore, for households that did not agree, we persistently campaigned, at the same time taking advantage of the support of the parish priest to further convince them.”

In the expansion of roads, the people are the ones who benefit the most, so after seeing some large, beautiful, convenient roads being expanded, and the appearance of the countryside changing positively, some households who were still concerned quickly agreed. Some households, after expanding one route, urged authorities at all levels to continue to implement it on adjacent routes for consistency.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh - Secretary of Vinh Phuc village Party Cell shared: "From the success in inter-family clusters 1, 2, 3, currently, the Village Front Committee continues to propagate and mobilize people in the remaining inter-family clusters to donate land to expand roads that do not meet NTM standards. It is expected that the whole village will continue to expand another 1 km of village roads in April".

According to the plan, Vinh Phuc village will build a model new-style rural residential area to meet the standards by next May. Currently, in addition to focusing on mobilizing people to donate land to open roads, the locality is also focusing on implementing environmental sanitation criteria, renovating houses and auxiliary works, planting new trees and renovating trees... In total, since the beginning of the year, Vinh Phuc village has mobilized people to donate 1,500m2 of residential land; mobilized machinery to demolish 1,500m of fences to expand rural roads; planted 2km of new green fences, 400 shade trees; poured 1,000m of drainage ditches...

THE SWEET RESULTS OF THE PARTY'S WILL AND THE PEOPLE'S HEART HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO CHANGING THE FACE OF RURAL AREAS, HELPING LOCALITIES COMPLETE THE CRITERIA FOR BUILDING MODEL NEW RURAL AREAS".
............................
Talking about the "revolution" of donating land to open roads that is taking place vigorously in Vinh Phuc village, Mr. Hoang Kim Tuy - Chairman of Nam Phuc Thang Commune People's Committee emphasized: "This is the most populous area and the largest area in the whole commune; of which, 100% are Catholics. The land is narrow and the population is large, so in previous years, although the commune has repeatedly launched the movement of donating land and opening roads, up to now, many roads in Vinh Phuc village have not yet met the NTM standards. Implementing the peak period of NTM construction in early 2025, Vinh Phuc villagers have enthusiastically responded to the movement. Thanks to the consensus of the parishioners, many roads have been expanded. The crystallization of the Party's will and the people's hearts has contributed to changing the face of the countryside, helping the locality complete the criteria for building a model NTM".

With the consensus and joint efforts of the people, the traffic infrastructure network in Vinh Phuc village is gradually being completed. The Catholic hamlet of Vinh Phuc is wearing a new coat with a spacious and comfortable traffic infrastructure. The new roads are extending the joy, helping Vinh Phuc village steadily move towards the goal of a model new-style rural residential area, thereby improving the lives of the people here.
