Over the past years, the State management of natural resources and minerals in Nhu Thanh district has always received attention and direction from the Party Committee and the government, so mineral exploitation activities have gradually become regular, contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring security, order and social safety in the area.
Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (TN&MT) of Nhu Thanh district, Le Huy Chung, said: Currently, there are 21 soil, stone, and chromite mines licensed by the Provincial People's Committee, of which 15 are in operation. In performing the State management of mineral activities, the department has advised the District People's Committee to issue documents directing the strengthening of State management of mineral activities; organizing propaganda and mobilizing organizations and individuals to properly implement the provisions of the Law on Minerals; coordinating with relevant sectors and People's Committees of communes and towns to inspect the exploitation of soil, sand, gravel and other minerals, promptly detecting, combating, and strictly handling violations. In addition, the district regularly coordinates with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to inspect the compliance with the law on minerals for units operating in mineral exploitation in the district. Since the beginning of 2023, through inspections, violations in mineral exploitation activities of Nam Thanh Construction Materials Production Joint Stock Company in Phuong Nghi commune have been discovered because of land exploitation outside the permitted boundary, illegally opening a branch road connecting the mining area to provincial road 520; at the same time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee decided to fine Nam Thanh Construction Materials Production Joint Stock Company 250 million VND and requested the company to have solutions to renovate and restore the exploited environment, bringing the mining area to a safe state.
In addition, the District Department of Natural Resources and Environment also coordinates with relevant agencies to direct communes and towns to implement measures to protect unexploited resources and minerals in the area. However, there are still some enterprises licensed by the Provincial People's Committee to exploit minerals in the area, but during the exploitation process, they have not ensured the provisions of the law, the means of transport have not ensured the conditions allowed according to the road level, overloading, damaging the roads, affecting the living environment of the community.
To further improve the State management of natural resources and minerals in the area, in the coming time, in addition to disseminating and raising awareness of the Law on Minerals and other legal documents, Nhu Thanh district will continue to strengthen the management and protection of natural resources and minerals, and strictly inspect and handle violations of the Law on Minerals.
