On May 21, the Criminal Police Department (CSHS) of Ca Mau Province Police received information that Minh Duc gold shop owned by Mr. Pham Minh Duc (44 years old, residing in Lien Hoa hamlet, Khanh Hai commune, Tran Van Thoi district) was robbed of gold and money, worth about 10 billion VND.
Through extraction of 4 cameras of the gold shop, the police recorded at least 3 people wearing masks, gloves, hats, and carrying tools to break into the gold shop.
Checking the scene, the police discovered that the door and fence had signs of being prying and cutting... The police seized a pair of pliers, 2 crowbars, a knife and several other items left behind by the subjects.
Evidence of the theft.
Using professional measures, on August 24, the police discovered that Le Van Chau (43 years old, residing in Tan Hoa hamlet, Phong Dien commune, Tran Van Thoi district) went to a gold shop in Song Doc town to sell an unusually large amount of gold, so they invited him to the agency for questioning.
After a period of struggle, with clear evidence, Chau admitted to breaking into Minh Duc gold shop to steal property and confessed to his accomplices.
Specifically, the other people summoned include: Le Van Lo (48 years old), Le Minh Hoang (35 years old), Le Chi Linh (40 years old), Pham Van Gioi (33 years old), all from Tran Van Thoi district. Chau is Linh's brother. All of them are fishermen.
Working with the police, the five suspects also confessed that before dividing it, they weighed 6.6 kg of gold (both 18K and 24K gold). After that, they divided the stolen gold equally and melted it into bars to store.
It is known that Lo has 2 previous convictions (theft of property and escaping from detention); Chau has a previous conviction for theft of property and Gioi also has 2 previous convictions.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department has recovered 6 kg of gold (11 bars including 18K and 24K gold) in cash and savings accounts worth about 530 million VND.
