An author's post about a class reunion after being posted on Toutiao (Chinese social network) attracted a lot of attention.

Before the holidays, my group of high school friends, which had been quiet for a long time, suddenly became lively. A classmate excitedly sent a message saying that someone suggested holding a class reunion during this year's holidays to reconnect and reminisce about old memories from school days.
After a while of discussion, the usually silent people in the group also appeared, expressing their approval of the reunion idea. Seeing this, the organizer immediately made a proposal: "Reunion, 3 days of fun, full service from food, drink, accommodation to entertainment activities, each person pays 3000 NDT (about 10.5 million VND), register immediately".
Immediately after seeing this message, the group chat fell silent, no one sent any more messages after that. I quietly looked at the message, remembering the class reunion 4 years ago. At that time, the homeroom teacher happily announced in the group that a classmate was sponsoring the entire cost of the reunion, hoping everyone would actively participate.

Perhaps because it was the first reunion in many years, or because there was a "free sponsor", that reunion was really full. But in the end, the reunion ended with the cost being split equally because a classmate expressed the opinion that reunion expenses should be shared, not just paid for by one sponsor.
The homeroom teacher also said that although the student had good intentions in sponsoring, everyone should not let him pay for it all by himself. In front of everyone, everyone agreed with this idea and happily split the cost equally.
Surprisingly, after the reunion, the friend who claimed to be paying for all the expenses texted many classmates to borrow money for various reasons. A few got their money back, but most didn't or only got a portion back.

Although no one in the group talked about it publicly, everyone knew about the student borrowing money. Surprisingly, this time, the student enthusiastically proposed to hold a class reunion as if nothing had happened.
At first, I thought, everyone was holding a class reunion, and I live in the countryside, so I wanted to join in. But when the organizer came up with such a grand plan, in this town, whether it was spending 3 days or paying 3,000 yuan (about 10.5 million VND), it made me lose interest in participating.
After that, with the support of a few active classmates, the class reunion still went on as planned. On the first day, I saw classmates posting photos on social media, I counted about 7-8 people attending, everyone was happy.
On the second day, the organizer sent another message, saying that the cost would be divided into stages, no longer paying 3,000 NDT (about 10.5 million VND) at once, and that the cost of food would be divided,...

From then on, the class chat group started to become silent again, no more photos or messages were sent. Of course, I believe that everyone was like me, not leaving the group, still silently following, just not texting or speaking up anymore.
