Dynamic, sharp, daring to think and act, Mr. Nguyen Van Dang in Dien Khanh village, Hai Duong commune, Hai Lang district has initially succeeded with a large-scale chicken farming model, bringing in profits of 450 - 500 million VND/year.

Mr. Dang said that he had raised chickens for many years, but in small quantities, mainly in the garden as a household. The family had to take care of the output of the products, and the price was forced down by traders, so the economic efficiency was not high, not to mention that due to lack of experience, there were often losses due to diseases.
In 2021, after participating in technical training courses and visiting and learning about many industrial chicken farming models, Mr. Dang realized that this is an industrial chicken farming model that is very easy to care for, has few diseases, and the chicken flock grows quickly and evenly. Especially, he does not have to worry about product output when raising in large quantities, so he decided to invest nearly 1.6 billion VND in association with Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Company to raise industrial chickens.
Accordingly, on his family's 5,000 m2 land area, Mr. Dang built 2 closed barns with a scale of 750 m2/barn with modern equipment such as automatic feeders, cooling systems, heaters, lighting, waste treatment systems... When the barns met technical requirements, the company he was associated with provided 16,000 one-day-old chicks, food, veterinary medicine and sent technical staff to help him raise them.
Having previous experience in raising livestock, the cooperation with the company was carried out smoothly. The chickens grew well, without any disease. After about 3 months of care, each batch, when the chickens reach a weight of 1.5 - 2 kg/chicken, will be sold to the company. After deducting expenses, he earns a profit of 150 - 170 million VND/batch. Like that, each year he raises 3 batches of chickens, bringing in a profit of 450 - 500 million VND.
According to Mr. Dang, the most difficult thing about raising chickens for processing is the large initial investment capital. But in return, the income is high, especially since the affiliated company buys all the products, so there is no need to worry about output.
Specifically, breeders must invest all of their land and barns according to technical requirements, care, sanitation, and disease prevention, and ensure no environmental pollution; the joint venture company invests in breeds, feed, veterinary medicine, and vaccines, and has technical staff to guide chickens on how to care for and prevent diseases.
Along with that, to ensure disease safety, the breeding area is strictly controlled, limiting people from entering and exiting; fully vaccinating all types of vaccines periodically; regularly cleaning the barn, especially when selling and importing new batches. Periodically 2 times/week, spray disinfectant to disinfect the entire barn and surrounding area. Add vitamins to drinking water to increase resistance for healthy chickens to grow quickly.
In addition, during the raising process, the barn is often sprinkled with rice husks to ensure humidity and absorb odors. This is also an additive that, together with chicken manure, makes a very good organic fertilizer. Therefore, despite raising a large flock, his chicken farm is always clean and has no unpleasant odors. The manure discharged by the chickens is collected, treated with lime powder, probiotics and composted to sell to local growers.
“Although raised industrially, thanks to strict adherence to technical procedures, the chicken meat is fragrant and delicious. Before selling, company staff come to collect samples to test for food hygiene and safety standards. If they meet the standards, the company will purchase all of them,” said Mr. Dang.
According to Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Lang district, Van Ngoc Tien Duc, in the face of the increasingly complicated disease situation in livestock herds, closed bio-safety livestock farming in the form of cooperation with enterprises is the optimal model for livestock farmers as it both solves the capital and technical issues and limits the risks of disease and price drops.
From these models, farmers also have access to advanced farming techniques, changing their thinking and working methods. In addition, due to having to meet the strict procedures of the affiliated company, the problem of environmental pollution in local farming is also gradually resolved.
From the above advantages, Hai Lang district is encouraging localities with sufficient conditions to develop livestock farming in the direction of farms and family farms in association with enterprises to bring about economic efficiency. At the same time, it is recommended that livestock farmers, in addition to economic benefits, need to accumulate experience and knowledge to develop sustainable livestock farming.
“In addition to creating favorable conditions for businesses and cooperatives to cooperate in livestock farming, professional agencies also recommend that livestock farmers should choose reputable companies and businesses so that the cooperation is sustainable and effective,” Mr. Duc added.
