Gold price today started to go down
At around 6:00 a.m. on April 18, the price of gold today on the international market was recorded at 3,329 USD/ounce, down 25 USD compared to 3,354 USD/ounce at the same time the previous day.
The decline came as many investors decided to sell gold to lock in profits after a sharp rise in prices since early 2025, when prices rose by nearly $700 an ounce. The Easter holiday also contributed to a decrease in trading in the market, putting downward pressure on gold prices.
However, the decline in gold prices today was restrained by capital flows from the stock market to precious metals.
The reason is that the international financial markets are in turmoil over the speech of the Chairman of the US Federal Reserve (FED) - Mr. Jerome Powell. Mr. Powell warned that US trade tariffs could push up inflation and increase unemployment. At the same time, he expressed concern about "stagflation", which is high inflation combined with slow economic growth.
In Vietnam, people's demand for gold is still higher than selling, causing domestic gold prices to continue to remain high.
Specifically, at the end of April 17, the selling price of SJC gold bars reached 118 million VND/tael, a significant increase compared to previous sessions. The price of gold rings was at 117 million VND/tael, also recording an upward trend.
