More and more travelers from the Asia-Pacific region are traveling with the expectation of a good night’s sleep. According to Booking.com, this trend is particularly prevalent in China, where 83% of travelers are looking for a vacation focused entirely on sleep. This is followed by travelers from Thailand and South Korea, with 75% and 70%, respectively. The survey results for Vietnamese travelers this time were 67%, higher than the results in Taiwan (China), Australia and Japan.
According to analysis by Mr. Varun Grover - Country Director of Booking.com in Vietnam, as life and society become increasingly hectic, sleep is gradually becoming a valuable resource and sleep tourism is predicted to be a popular trend. With nearly 67% of Vietnamese respondents looking for vacations in 2024 just to sleep well, it is clear that the tourism industry needs to make changes towards the quality of rest for tourists.
"Resorts and hotels in Vietnam and around the world are providing more amenities and convenient services to bring visitors a healthy and relaxing vacation. Travel experiences need to contribute to improving the quality of sleep of visitors, meeting the priority needs to improve their physical and mental health," said Mr. Varun Grover.
Booking.com also recommends a number of destinations in Asia that are suitable for peaceful, relaxing and health-improving vacations, helping visitors feel relaxed and refreshed. Vietnam has many locations that fit these criteria, such as Da Lat, Da Nang, Tam Dao... in addition to overseas destinations such as Suzhou (China), Bali (Indonesia) or Koh Samui (Thailand).
Booking.com’s Travel Predictions 2024 report was conducted independently, using a random sample of travelers planning to travel for leisure or business in the next 12 to 24 months. About 1,000 Vietnamese people completed the online survey in July last year. A total of 27,730 people participated in the survey, coming from 33 countries and territories. |
