Many large enterprises owe hundreds of billions of dong in taxes

Recently, the Provincial Tax Department has published a list of 1,371 enterprises and individual taxpayers who owe taxes and other revenues to the state budget (NSNN) as of September 30, 2024. The total tax debt is over VND 912 billion. Of which, the business sector accounts for VND 900 billion with many large enterprises being "named" for having debts over 90 days and not voluntarily complying.

Topping the list is Hai Linh Company Limited, headquartered in Zone 2, Song Lo Commune, Viet Tri City, with a tax debt of nearly VND288 billion (accounting for 32%) of the total tax debt in the province. The company has registered nearly 50 business lines, mainly in the fields related to: Mining iron ore, sand and gravel...; mechanical processing; repairing machinery and equipment; construction (houses, non-residential houses, traffic works, electricity, water, telecommunications...); wholesale (ores, metals, materials, equipment...); retail (gasoline, fiber, fertilizer, pesticides...); transportation; services...

The second is Vuong Cuong Group Joint Stock Company, headquartered at SN 126, Quang Trung Street, Tan Dan Ward, Viet Tri City, with a tax debt of VND 125.4 billion. The company registered 27 business lines, mainly in the fields of: Real estate, construction, installation, wholesale of automobiles and motor vehicles, agriculture, mining, metals, etc.

The list of enterprises with tax debts of tens of billions of VND includes: Hai Linh Tay Bac Petroleum Company Limited owes over 56.8 billion VND; Phu Tho Cement JSC owes over 30.9 billion VND; Dong Lang Industrial Cluster Infrastructure Development Company Limited - TASCO owes over 30.3 billion VND; Song Thao LLC owes over 28.6 billion VND; Bai Bang Hotel Tourism Trade JSC owes over 22.6 billion VND; Thanh Nhan JSC owes over 18 billion VND...

Along with the business sector, the individual with the highest tax debt is 629 million VND, the individual with the lowest tax debt is 5 million VND.

According to the forecast of the Provincial Tax Department, the State budget collection in the last months of 2024 will face many difficulties and challenges due to the general "health" situation of enterprises and business households in the area facing many difficulties, and the production and business activities of people being affected by storms and floods. Along with that, the implementation of tax exemption, reduction and extension policies for taxpayers affected by storms and floods according to the Prime Minister's Directive will have an impact on reducing the State budget collection in the last months of 2024 and 2025.

The provincial Tax Department has requested functional departments and local tax branches to resolutely implement measures to urge tax debt collection and enforce tax debt collection in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Tax Administration; review, classify debts, closely monitor and supervise tax debts; resolutely handle tax debt enforcement in cases of deliberate procrastination and prolonged tax arrears in many forms, including increasing the application of measures prohibiting individuals from leaving the country who are business representatives.
