The Provincial People's Council's monitoring delegation surveyed the beekeeping model under the poverty reduction linkage model in Cha Nua commune, Nam Po district.

The model of linking production and consumption of taro products in Trung Thu commune (Tua Chua district) has been implemented by the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development since 2021 and has now been widely replicated.

Participating in the model, people are supported with seeds, materials, fertilizers, and at the same time sign contracts to consume and guarantee products. Households are instructed on techniques from planting, care to harvesting, helping people feel secure in participating in the model. Currently, the average potato yield is 12.5 tons/ha, the minimum purchase price is 8,000 VND/kg; after deducting costs, the revenue is 50 million VND/ha. The H'Mong Tua Chua Cooperative commits to consume taro products. Currently, the Cooperative has developed production linkages and guaranteed consumption for nearly 100ha of taro in Tua Chua.

As one of the participants in the model, Mr. Thao A Lang shared: I planted 2,500m2 of taro and was supported by the project with seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides. At the same time, I was trained and transferred planting and care techniques. Thanks to that, taro achieved high productivity, reducing labor. Up to now, through many harvests, taro has brought more economic efficiency than many other crops. My family plans to continue expanding the taro acreage in the near future.

The purple taro growing model in Trung Thu commune gives high yield and the products are guaranteed.

According to Mr. Pham Quoc Dat, Head of the District's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in recent years, people inside and outside the model have expanded the area. From the initial 4 hectares, up to now, the whole commune has more than 300 households linking together, expanding the production area to more than 40 hectares. The taro model is not only grown in Trung Thu commune but also expanded to many other areas of Tua Chua district. At the end of 2023, the H'Mong Cooperative continued to implement the project of providing taro seeds to people in the communes of Trung Thu, Sinh Phinh, and Tua Thang with an area of over 20 hectares.

Also effective is the project to support domestic bee breeds and beekeeping materials in the two communes of Cha Nua and Cha Cang, Nam Po district (supporting 300 bee colonies for 30 households in the two communes). Participating in the project, households are provided with materials, purchased products and promoted, introduced and consumed honey products by the Cha Nua Wild Beekeeping Cooperative. From 2020 to 2023, the model linkage has increased to 346 colonies, the amount of honey exploited is more than 1,786 liters/year, the revenue is nearly 447 million VND/year, the average profit is nearly 15 million VND/household/year.

The model of growing yellow pears in Hang Lia commune, Dien Bien Dong district brings economic efficiency to the participating people.

In the period of 2021 - 2023, the whole province has 125 linkage models supported for implementation. According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, through the implementation of linkage policies, it has brought about clear economic efficiency compared to traditional production: Growing vegetables, tubers and fruits reduces production costs by 10 - 15%, output increases by 15 - 25%, profits increase by 30 - 35 million VND/ha; linking rice production according to single-variety fields, applying mechanization has reduced production costs, profits increased by 15 - 20 million VND/ha. In the field of livestock farming, costs are reduced, productivity increases by up to 20% compared to livestock farming outside the model...

Along with that, through the connection, people have access to professional knowledge, contributing to raising awareness, gradually changing the method and level of production organization.

The peanut growing model in the direction of linking consumption helps households participating in the model feel secure about product output.

Through specific livelihood support linkage models, it has contributed to changing people's production thinking, helping many poor and near-poor households increase their income and access basic social services. Thanks to that, many poor people no longer have the mentality of waiting and relying on the State's support, but have changed their awareness, become self-reliant, contributing to the effective implementation of poverty reduction work in the province. By the end of 2023, the poverty rate in the whole province will be 26%, a decrease of 5,412 poor households (4.32%). In the first quarter of 2024, the poverty rate is estimated to decrease to 25.6%.
