This is what many clan learning promotion committees in the province are doing in promoting learning, promoting talents, and building a learning society.

"Leaving home but not leaving home"

The Nguyen Duc family in Bau Coi hamlet, Bao Quang commune (Long Khanh city) has 38 households, who are children of Quang Tri land who chose Dong Nai as their place to live and work. With the tradition of "leaving home but not leaving ancestors", in 2003, the children of the Nguyen Duc family in Bao Quang commune gathered together to contribute to building the family's ancestral temple. They call this "vong tu duong" to always remember their ancestors. Every year, according to a fixed calendar, all descendants in the family gather at the ancestral temple to perform a ceremony to pay respect to their ancestors.

From here, the family's education promotion work was also promoted and reaped many sweet fruits, contributing to the work of promoting education, talent, and building a learning society in the locality.

The clan plays a very important role in controlling and regulating the behavior of its members based on the rules set out when establishing the clan. Therefore, the clan has a certain influence on the awareness of each individual, especially the awareness of the importance of learning. The learning clan has truly become a source of encouragement, fueling the learning promotion activities at the grassroots level to go into depth, creating a spreading effect in social life.

The Nguyen Duc Family's Education Promotion Committee officially started operating in 2009, under the Bao Quang Commune Education Promotion Association. From just contributing a few notebooks and a little money to encourage the children in the family, up to now, the work of rewarding and encouraging students has become regular. Every year, families in the family contribute nearly 20 million VND to the education promotion fund. Currently, 100% of families in the Nguyen Duc family have achieved the title of "Learning Family"; 70% of family members have achieved the title of "Learning Citizen".

“Every year, the clan organizes a summer meeting at the clan temple to reward all individuals who have received certificates of merit during the school year. We also always remind clan members to maintain the spirit of solidarity, pioneering and exemplary behavior,” said Mr. Nguyen Duc Lam, representative of the Nguyen Duc clan’s Education Promotion Board.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Bau Coi Hamlet, Bao Quang Commune, in Bau Coi Hamlet there are 3 outstanding education promotion committees: Lam Thuy Village Education Promotion Committee, Quang Nam Association of Fellow Countrymen Education Promotion Committee, and Nguyen Duc Family Education Promotion Committee. Previously, the lives of the people in Bau Coi Hamlet were very difficult, but thanks to the education promotion committees, conditions were created for their children to study successfully. This contributed to improving the material, cultural and spiritual life of the people in the area. Successful people continue to help the next generation move forward.

Encourage children to excel in their studies

In Doi 61 commune (Trang Bom district), there is a Truong family consisting of 16 families and 67 people. These are children of Ha Tinh land who came to Dong Nai to make a living since 1988. Although they do not have the conditions to build an ancestral temple like many other families, the descendants of the Truong family still connect and together take care of the education of the younger generation. Accordingly, the house of the head of the family, Truong Phat Tan, has become a gathering place for relatives of the Truong family.

The Truong Family Education Promotion Committee was established in 2020. Every year, 100% of families in the family register to build a Learning Family. The Truong Family Education Promotion Committee regularly organizes meetings for older members, who are outstanding in the fields of production and animal husbandry, to share their experiences with family members. Also in these meetings, the Party's policies, the State's laws, and local regulations are disseminated to everyone. Everyone understands and grasps them, so the descendants of the family do not violate the law, do not commit social evils, and are exemplary in life.

Up to now, the family's scholarship fund has reached over 30 million VND/year. From this fund, in recent years, the family has regularly organized scholarship award ceremonies for children with outstanding academic achievements. On average, each year, the family has over 15 children and grandchildren who are students receiving awards.

In addition to the award, students also receive letters of commendation from their clan. This is an effective encouragement for students in the clan to excel in their studies. In addition, the scholarship fund is also used to support students to overcome difficulties and excel in their studies.

To maintain the Learning and Talent Promotion Movement regularly, since 2020, the clan has posted 4 criteria for Learning Families. Every year, the clan reviews the implementation results of the criteria at the Learning Promotion Award Ceremony. After graduating from university or college, children and grandchildren report to the clan head and are given a ceremony to honor their ancestors.

Mr. Truong Phat Tan proudly said: “The important thing in traditional education is not only taking care of health and learning conditions, but also cultivating awareness of morality, patriotism, solidarity, modesty, overcoming difficulties, helping the poor…”.

With the achieved results, the Truong family was recognized by the People's Committee of Doi 61 commune as a typical learning family.
