Three months ago, Ms. Quyen's family asked an acquaintance for a dog to raise. On the evening of April 10, the dog left home. The next morning, the dog returned and chased and bit passersby. Ms. Quyen tried to stop it, but the dog bit her hand. After that, Ms. Quyen chained the dog to keep an eye on it. Seeing the dog acting strangely, the pet's owner reported it to the local authorities.
The Dinh Quan District Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture Station has collected samples of the sick dogs and sent them to the Dong Nai Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture Sub-Department to request rabies virus testing and destroy the sick dogs according to regulations.
Through investigation, the vaccination rate in the epidemic area did not reach 70% of the total herd, so the level of antibodies to protect the population was not achieved. This area also has a lot of free-roaming dogs, leading to difficulties in zoning and management. The forecast of the epidemic situation in the coming time is very complicated.
Previously, authorities also discovered a rabies outbreak at the household of Mr. Ly Van Lam, residing in Group 3, Hamlet 6, Suoi Nho Commune, Dinh Quan District.
In order to promptly control the epidemic and ensure the health of livestock and farmers, the Dinh Quan Livestock and Aquaculture Station requested the People's Committee of Dinh Quan district to direct its affiliated units to deploy measures to handle the epidemic, quickly isolate and thoroughly handle it to prevent the epidemic from spreading; and carry out mandatory destruction of infected animals.
Require breeders to take measures to confine dogs and cats. Especially in areas where the outbreak has occurred, because it is impossible to determine the number of dogs that have come into contact with or bitten infected dogs. Strengthen propaganda and encourage breeders in areas where the outbreak has occurred to be vigilant. Urgently review, count and make a list of all dog and cat breeders in the commune who have not been vaccinated against rabies...
