Thua Thien - Hue A two-story house, over 120 square meters, blocks a lane of the main road of Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone, making it difficult for vehicles to pass.
The four-lane road expansion invested by the Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone Management Board, with a cost of more than VND80 billion, is being completed after three years of construction. This is also the road leading to Chan May port, but one lane has not been opened because the family of Mr. Le Cong Nhat, 57 years old, Loc Vinh commune, Phu Loc district, did not agree with the compensation plan for relocation.

"If we receive compensation and the resettlement land is favorable for business, the family will soon move and hand over the premises," said Mr. Cong, adding that the house is located on the street, built more than 10 years ago, and sells electricity, water, and construction materials.
Mr. Tran Viet Tu, Director of Phu Loc District Land Fund Development Center, explained that the project required the relocation of 58 households to build the road with compensation costs of more than 12 billion VND. However, Mr. Cong and another household did not agree, causing the clearance to last more than two years. Both houses were built on agricultural land, so there was no compensation plan to support the construction assets.

According to Mr. Tu, after the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province issued a decision on compensation, support, and resettlement when the state reclaims land, the locality agreed with two households on a plan to support 70% of the compensation for assets built on agricultural land and arrange resettlement land.
Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone covers an area of 271 km2 and is located in Phu Loc district, including Lang Co town and Loc Thuy, Loc Tien and Loc Vinh communes. According to the plan, the economic zone includes a duty-free zone, an industrial zone, Chan May port, an urban area and a tourist area. Chan May port has three wharves with a total length of 910 m, with a customs clearance capacity of 5-6 million tons of goods per year. The traffic routes connecting to this port have also been invested and completed.
