Tan Son Nhat T3 Terminal is ahead of schedule and will be operational on April 30, 2025

On the afternoon of February 1 (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and gave Tet gifts to officials and workers at the construction site and inspected, urged and promoted the progress of the T3 Terminal project at Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC).

Accompanying the Prime Minister were comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; comrades of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister, Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; leaders of ministries, branches and localities.

In the first days of Spring, the Prime Minister is having a working program to start and inspect important national and key projects in the transport sector. This is the third time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has come to the construction site to inspect and urge this project (not counting the project's start).

The Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 Project is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), with a total investment of more than 10,986 billion VND; construction scale of 1 basement and 4 floors, area of ​​112,500 m2 with a transport capacity of 20 million passengers/year, equivalent to 7,000 passengers/peak hour. Terminal T3 is connected by 11 passenger bridges.

The project started in August 2023. Up to now, the main works have been basically completed, with the total volume of work done reaching about 83%; striving to complete the entire project, to operate and put the station into operation on April 30, 2025 (about 3 months ahead of schedule).

ACV reported that the project implementation progress was controlled, without any difficulties or problems, and relevant agencies guided and inspected the procedures for project acceptance, fire prevention and fighting acceptance, and project exploitation licensing.

It is expected that the bridge project will be completed on February 20, 2025; the elevator and escalator system will be fully installed in February 2025; the telescopic bridge system will be completed in January 2025; the baggage conveyor system will be completed in February 2025; and the X-ray machine system is expected to be completed in February 2025.

According to Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, Tan Son Nhat Terminal T3 is one of 50 projects of the City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 2025).

After inspecting the construction site and giving instructions at a meeting with ministries, branches, agencies and units, the Prime Minister acknowledged and commended all relevant entities for their efforts in implementing the project with the spirit of "only discussing work, not backtracking". During this Tet holiday alone, about 600 cadres and workers stayed at the construction site.

We can be proud that after 16 months we have overcome many difficulties and obstacles, "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", working "3 shifts, 4 shifts", working through Tet and holidays, bringing the project ahead of schedule, the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister praised Ho Chi Minh City for promptly deploying and basically completing the connecting traffic system; the Ministry of National Defense for closely and effectively coordinating in site clearance work; and thanked the people for giving up their land for the project.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated ACV's progress and maturity in the project implementation process. The achievements, results and experience in implementing Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3 will help ACV and related agencies gain more confidence and courage to carry out other larger infrastructure projects, including the Long Thanh airport project.

Regarding upcoming work, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of National Defense, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and relevant ministries, branches and agencies to study and unify the location and plan to relocate the command center of the 370th Air Division to transfer the land to civil aviation to arrange traffic routes, landscape works in the T3 Terminal area and effectively exploit Tan Son Nhat International Airport, at the same time, ensure the implementation of security and defense tasks; to be completed in February 2025.

The Prime Minister directed agencies and units to continue completing the remaining items and related works, such as parking lots, overpass systems, aircraft parking lots, lighting systems, air conditioning, fire prevention and fighting, telescopic tubes, conveyor belts, baggage conveyors, X-ray machines, wastewater and waste collection and treatment systems, and completing the landscape to ensure light, green, clean and beautiful spaces.

Along with that, acceptance and settlement must be carried out according to regulations; review and ensure that people who give up their land for the project have new housing that is better than or equal to their old housing.

The Prime Minister noted that agencies should carefully calculate the exploitation of Terminals T1, T2, and T3 of Tan Son Nhat Airport in the most reasonable and effective manner, ensuring publicity, transparency, fairness, and healthy competition among airlines.
