On the morning of February 1 (the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and gave Tet gifts to officials and workers at the construction site, inspected, urged, and continued to grasp and remove difficulties and obstacles, promoting the progress of the Long Thanh International Airport project.
Accompanying the Prime Minister were members of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister, Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy, leaders of ministries, branches, and localities; and a large number of local people.
In the early days of spring, the Prime Minister is having a working program to start construction and inspect important national projects and key transport projects. This is also the 6th time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has visited the Long Thanh airport construction site in the past 3 years.
Long Thanh airport project includes 4 component projects: Component project 1 (headquarters of state agencies), Component project 2 (works serving flight management), Component project 3 (essential works), Component project 4 (ground service works).
Right before Tet, on January 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting on the progress of this project and gave very specific instructions to agencies and units with the basic goal of completing the project by the end of 2025.
Speaking at the working session that lasted past 1pm at the project site, after listening to reports from ministries, branches, localities and agencies on the implementation of the above tasks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged the efforts of relevant ministries, branches, agencies and localities in implementing the project, and at the same time praised the enthusiasm of the work with nearly 4,000 officers and workers staying at the site during Tet. In particular, the equipment at the passenger terminal is being installed, and the central roof truss will be installed on February 15.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the Long Thanh International Airport project is an important national project, the largest airport project in our country, of great significance, especially in the context of Tan Son Nhat Airport being overloaded with thousands of flights per day. The completion of Long Thanh Airport is also a practical way to celebrate the 14th National Party Congress and major holidays in 2025.
Stating that the target has not changed compared to the previous direction, which is to basically complete Long Thanh airport by the end of 2025, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, localities, units and ACV to urgently implement the Prime Minister's direction at the meeting on January 25 and according to their functions, tasks and powers; review and rebuild the progress critical path according to the target to deploy the work and monitor, inspect and supervise the project investment and construction process, promptly handle problems and arising issues according to their authority, and report urgent issues beyond their authority.
Noting some additional tasks, evaluating the Component 3 project is still the most difficult and heavy work, the Prime Minister requested ACV and relevant agencies to increase machinery, human resources, construction, and equipment installation with 3 shifts, through holidays, Tet, and holidays, "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to storms"; increase subcontractors, mobilize the police, army, and trade unions... with tasks that can be done such as cleaning and restoring the environment.
With difficult equipment such as scanners and conveyors that must be placed overseas, ACV needs to go to the supplier's factory abroad to work and shorten the progress.
Along with that, the agencies researched a reasonable construction site arrangement plan to simultaneously implement project items, avoiding overlap and hindering progress on the project site of up to 5,000 hectares.
Regarding raw materials, the Prime Minister requested that next week, Dong Nai meet with ministries, sectors, investors, and contractors to thoroughly resolve problems related to the supply of raw materials in the spirit of providing directly to contractors, without intermediaries; reclaim mines that have expired or are operating improperly, taking advantage of the situation of hoarding, profiteering, and price gouging; and strictly handle cases as a deterrent. The Ministry of Public Security must get involved in this work.
The Prime Minister also continued to direct tasks related to the construction of hangars, construction of connecting traffic routes (including the metro line from Tan Son Nhat airport to Long Thanh airport), and timely acceptance...
Regarding difficulties and problems, ministries, localities, investors, contractors, etc., report to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha for immediate resolution. The Prime Minister also assigned Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to convene monthly meetings with relevant entities to urge, direct, and resolve arising issues.
The Prime Minister emphasized that it is necessary to clearly assign people, tasks, time, responsibilities, and products, conduct regular inspections, and promptly reward and discipline according to Party and State regulations.
