Monitoring data shows that at 9:00 a.m. on June 28, the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir was at 109.95 m; inflow to the reservoir was 956 m3/s, discharge was 1,786 m3/s.
Implementing the inter-reservoir operation process on the Red River basin in Decision No. 740/QD-TTg dated June 17, 2019 of the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister's direction in Official Dispatch No. 57/CD-TTg dated June 10, 2024, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control ordered the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to close 1 bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang reservoir at 1:00 p.m. on June 28, 2024.
In addition, the organization closely monitors the development of rain and flood safety works, the flow to the lake, the water level upstream and downstream of the reservoir, and promptly reports to the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and relevant agencies according to regulations.
On the same day, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control issued a document requesting the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of provinces and cities to notify authorities at all levels, people, and organizations operating on rivers and along rivers to proactively take measures to ensure safety and adjust activities accordingly.
In particular, localities have directed grassroots levels to absolutely not let people go to areas at risk of landslides or construction sites to avoid possible unfortunate damage.
