Artist Trong Hieu was robbed in the middle of the night

Artist Trong Hieu shared with VietNamNet the story of being robbed on the evening of July 5. He worked in the studio all day, and in the evening continued to rehearse the play with artist My Uyen and the actors of the 5B Small Theater Stage.

At around 11:30 p.m., Trong Hieu was walking across Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Tan Binh District (HCMC) when two young men on a Wave motorbike approached him and cut the strap of his bag.

Seeing Trong Hieu stop the car reflexively, they were about to leave but then turned back, took his car keys and attempted to rob him of other property.

The artist saw two subjects holding large scissors, knowing he was unable to fight back, so he proactively handed over two phones in his pocket.

The handbag had its strap cut by two people.

"I was scared. It was late at night and the streets were deserted. I was exhausted from working all day. There were more robbers and they had weapons. If I tried to fight back, I would be in danger," he said.

After taking the property, the two subjects did not check anything and just left. Trong Hieu took a moment to calm himself. Because the robber had taken the key, he had to walk the car a distance.

Trong Hieu was discovered, encouraged, and supported by local police officers and the militia team to be taken to a hotel in Dong Xoai Street, Tan Binh to stay overnight.

He was robbed of a wallet containing more than 600,000 VND in cash, personal papers and 2 mobile phones, each worth less than 3 million VND. According to the artist, the 2 subjects did not rob the motorbike because it was too old and degraded.

Trong Hieu was robbed but remained optimistic. He felt lucky to have kept his life and not much property was lost.

The artist learned a profound lesson: "I reassured myself that 'things go for people'. From now on, I have to be more vigilant, limit going out early and coming back late, and avoid taking small, deserted roads."

Trong Hieu has been active in the arts for over 25 years as a voice actor, film actor and playwright. He is of the same generation as artists Viet Huong, Thuy Nga, Hanh Thuy, Vu Ngoc Dang, Tiet Cuong, Cao Minh Dat...

Recently, the artist appeared in many products such as Xom Chua by Viet Huong, Me Rom by Phuong Dien, and web series by Long Dep Trai.

He has just returned to the stage with the main role in the play Love Outside Marriage of the 5B Small Theater, co-starring with Meritorious Artist My Uyen. The next performance will be on July 17.
