World gold price today
World gold prices were stable, with spot gold prices rising $34.6 to $3,056.1 an ounce. Gold futures last traded at $3,097.6 an ounce, up $41.6 from early this morning.
Gold prices continued to “break” the record of $ 3,057.21 / ounce reached on March 20 and rose to $ 3,059.3 / ounce on Thursday before reversing slightly down. This is the 17th record that the precious metal has achieved this year. The gold price continued to be supported by safe-haven demand due to concerns about escalating global trade tensions and the stock market plunge after the announcement of new auto tariffs by US President Donald Trump.
Looking at the price action, RJO Futures senior market strategist Bob Haberkorn said that gold futures will soon hit $3,100 an ounce and the main driver remains safe-haven buying, fueled by uncertainty surrounding President Trump's tariff plans.
World leaders said they would retaliate against the 25% tariff that US President Donald Trump imposed on imported cars. Global stock markets were rocked as shares of some of the world's biggest automakers plunged.
Gold is also getting support from strong central bank inflows and demand from exchange-traded funds, said Phillip Streible, market strategist at Blue Line Futures.
Investors are now waiting for US personal consumption spending data to gauge the likelihood of further rate cuts, following the US central bank's decision to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at its meeting last week.
Seeing stronger-than-expected inflows into exchange-traded funds and continued demand from central banks, Goldman Sachs raised its gold price forecast for the end of 2025 from $3,100/ounce to $3,300/ounce.
With the domestic gold bar price increasing and the world gold price listed at Kitco at 3,056.1 USD/ounce (equivalent to about 94.9 million VND/tael converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, excluding taxes and fees), the difference between domestic and world gold prices is about 4 million VND/tael.
