Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động17/11/2024

Music is her companion and inspiration for her projects.

Returning home to perform in 4 concerts in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, artist Bich Tra spent most of her time with her mother - People's Artist Tra Giang.

Bringing music to life

Recently, Bich Tra and her mother attended the "2nd Music Exchange" program organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper. That day, People's Artist Tra Giang was very happy and moved to meet musicians who have devoted their lives to composing traditional songs. She also received the "Mai Vang Tri An" award from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper. "I was really touched when my mother donated the painting to the "Mai Vang Tri An" program to auction, continuing to spread the humanistic value of this activity" - artist Bich Tra confided.

Sharing about her daughter, People's Artist Tra Giang said that only those in the profession can understand the hardships and difficulties that Bich Tra has gone through to achieve her current achievements. "I am satisfied with my daughter's tireless efforts and above all, her spirit of sharing. When I donated the painting to the "Mai Vang Tri An" program, I thought of my daughter's efforts" - People's Artist Tra Giang shared.

When she learned that during the exhibition of paintings with the theme "Homeland", one of her mother's works was sold for 151 million VND to support the people of the North to overcome the consequences of storms and floods, Bich Tra was very touched and proud. She said that her mother's meaningful work has given her positive energy to live with music.

At the age of 14, Bich Tra was selected to study abroad in Russia, then received a scholarship to study abroad in the UK and graduated in 1999. In 2012, Bich Tra was exclusively invited by NAXOS to record and release albums from Joachim Raff's piano music collection for the Grand Piano label (under NAXOS).

She was voted one of the 10 outstanding faces of Vietnamese youth in 2002 and was the first Vietnamese person to be awarded the title of ARAM (Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, member of the Royal Academy of Music - England) for her outstanding musical contributions in 2013.

Mother is the support

Bich Tra said that since she was little, her father (violinist Bich Ngoc) discovered her musical ability. Going to Russia to study at the age of 14, Bich Tra carried in her mind the images of the movies in which her mother acted.

When her father passed away, her mother chose to paint to live with her memories with the artist's experienced perspectives on nature, people and life. Her father nurtured her love of music and now her mother's meaningful work for the community further motivates her to carry out many music projects to connect her love for her homeland.

Looking at her success, many people might say that it is because she was born into a family with an artistic tradition. Her mother is People's Artist Tra Giang - a golden face of Vietnamese revolutionary cinema in the 1960s and 1970s and her father is a professor - violinist Bich Ngoc. However, few people understand that it is the hard work that has shaped the artist Bich Tra of today.

Live fresh every day

Bich Tra was taught violin by her father since she was young. However, after a while, she had to stop because the melody of the violin did not inspire her. Until she touched the piano keys, she was mesmerized and has been attached to it ever since. After a journey of tireless struggle, she truly excelled with the piano.

In recent years, despite being very busy with recording, teaching and performing abroad, Bich Tra still arranges time to return to Vietnam, both to visit her mother and to teach classical music students at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in the "Summer Music Camp" (Saigon Chamber Music). She has passed on a lot of experience to the younger generation, and at the same time helped them learn how to keep their passion for music fresh every day.

Artist Bich Tra confided: "It is my family background, passion for music, dedication, and especially hard work that have helped me achieve success." Now, young artist Bich Tra continues to bring her love for music, enthusiasm, and a heart devoted to classical music to give wings to Vietnamese musical talents.

Artist Bich Tra shared that her generation had a harder time with music than today's students. The model of classical music development in Vietnam is not really comprehensive, so it requires a lot of focus and practice. The important criteria of the classes is to help students experience and understand what dialogue is in music. And Bich Tra is still working hard every day to help students understand this.
