Russia-Ukraine war today, November 26, 2024: Russia is ready to launch missile attacks on US and Western bases if Ukraine launches a large-scale missile attack on Russian territory?
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempted to attack Russian territory with ballistic missiles. The Russian Defense Ministry reported this in its daily report on the progress of the Special Military Operation on November 25.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense systems have intercepted eight ballistic missiles fired by the Ukrainian military in the past 24 hours.

The West declares a new phase of conflict in Ukraine
British analyst Alexander Mercouris assessed that a new phase has begun in the Ukrainian conflict. This happened after Russia used the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile.
“ I think this will change the whole way the war is going ,” said Mr. Mercouris.
The British military expert noted that such missiles cannot be intercepted by existing Ukrainian or Western air defense systems.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on November 21 that the Russian military had launched an attack with Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles without nuclear warheads on one of the largest military facilities on Ukrainian territory, located in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
The Russian leader called the launch of the Oreshnik missile a clear and understandable warning to the West.
“There will always be an answer,” the Russian president warned.
AFU attack on Russian territory does not change the situation on the front
Retired Colonel and military expert Anatoly Matviychuk assessed that Kiev's attacks on Russian territory with Western long-range weapons did not cause serious military damage.
“ All these strikes with long-range weapons – yes, they are annoying. They cause some damage, but not enough to create a dangerous situation at the front ,” said expert Anatoly Matviychuk.
Expert Matviychuk noted that the attack with the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile was intended to demonstrate “to Ukraine's allies that we were not warning in vain.”
Russia admits US, UK military bases could become targets of retaliatory attacks
Director of the Center for Applied Sociology and Political Science, Gennady Podlesny, a few days earlier, warned about Russia's reaction in case of a large-scale Western missile attack from Ukrainian territory.
“ We will strike with missiles, which the Ukrainian and NATO air defense systems are powerless against. We will not have to wait long, the Western countries will certainly instruct Ukraine to check for itself what President Putin’s words really mean, ” said Gennady Podlesny.
The targets of Russia's retaliatory strikes could be facilities on Ukrainian territory and possibly US and British military bases located on third country territory.
Russia unexpectedly crossed the Oskol River
The Readovka telegram channel reported that the Russian army's operation in Kupyansk continues. However, the focus of the fighting has moved away from the city and is concentrated on the northern flank. Russian assault forces took advantage of the stretched Ukrainian defense line to suddenly cross the Oskol River by light boats and immediately took control of the bridgehead between the settlements of Dvurechnaya and Novomlynsk.
The AFU was currently stuck in a situation where the frontline units were running away, and the Russians had not yet taken over, and the Russians had already launched a surprise attack. As a result, there were no AFU soldiers in the forest. The Russians simply took over the abandoned trenches.
Several Russian soldiers at the front line added that the offensive has not stopped and they could quickly take control of Novomlynsk to create a solid bridgehead. No major fighting was recorded in the area.
The above developments show that the Russian side has won a great victory by establishing a solid fortification position, while Ukrainian units cannot prevent the further expansion of the bridgehead behind the Oskol River.
On the southern Donetsk front, Russian forces are only a few hundred meters from the first houses in Velikaya Novoselka. The Illanka settlement south of Kurakhove is surrounded and the AFU is said to have fled the area. The neighboring village of Romanivka will soon change hands in the next few days…
The tragic situation is also taking place right in the heart of Kurakhove, when Russian attacks continuously tighten the siege, leaving the entrenched AFU forces with no way to retreat from this settlement.
In South Pokrovsk, the Russian Army was also moving closer to Shevshenko, the next larger town, located just behind this strategic position.
