Promote high technology application
The application of science and technology is considered the backbone and becomes a direct production force to help improve the productivity and quality of agricultural products. The application of high technology will contribute to creating a breakthrough in the productivity and quality of agricultural products; reduce dependence on weather, and meet market demand.
A typical story from Yen Bai province. As a mountainous province, Yen Bai has many strong agricultural products such as cinnamon, oranges, tea, vermicelli, etc. In previous years, the province's agricultural products were not invested in production, processing, promotion, and introduction, so they were not known to many markets.

Recently, along with the participation of all levels and sectors, people themselves have also proactively applied science and technology in production and processing to contribute to increasing the value of agricultural products.
Statistics show that in the past 3 years, Yen Bai province has implemented 86 science and technology tasks; of which, agricultural science accounts for 66 tasks. In addition, the province also coordinates the management and monitoring of 7 state-level agricultural science tasks implemented in the area.
With the advantage of having many sources of high-value specialty agricultural products, along with the province's support policy in applying and transferring new technical and technological advances into production, up to now, Yen Bai province has gradually formed a number of key agricultural products, affirming its brand in the domestic and international markets, such as: Products from cinnamon trees, Shan Tuyet tea, herbal plants, Bat Do bamboo shoots, planted forest wood, hawthorn trees, mulberry trees...
Also a locality with many valuable agricultural products, in recent years, the application of high technology has become one of the scientific and technological solutions, bringing advanced techniques into agricultural production in Lao Cai, thereby contributing to improving productivity and quality of agricultural products, bringing high income to farmers.
Many enterprises and cooperatives in Lao Cai, thanks to the application of high technology in production, have increased the value of their products three times higher than conventional production, such as Thang Loi Vegetable and Fruit Cooperative; Lung Phinh High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative, etc.
Hanoi has also been focusing resources on promoting the development of modern, clean, organic agriculture, circular economy associated with agricultural processing industry and sustainable connection with global value chains.
According to Mr. Hoang Van Kham - Technical Director of Chuc Son Clean Vegetable Cooperative (Chuong My district), the cooperative used to operate according to traditional methods, but since the technical manual for cultivation has been available, it has been managed on smartphones. All data from land preparation, care, to harvest are through the software system connecting the smartphone and the cooperative's server. Customers only need to access the Chuc Son vegetable management software to understand the cooperative's VietGAP vegetable production process.
According to current statistics, Hanoi has built 285 agricultural production models applying high technology and digital transformation. The value of high-tech and digital transformation agricultural products currently accounts for about 40% of Hanoi's total agricultural production value. High-tech agricultural products maximize the value of agricultural products, meet domestic and export needs, and reduce labor for producers.
Assessment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development: Over the past 10 years, Vietnamese agriculture has achieved great achievements and comprehensive development, including the strong and dedicated participation of the scientific community. Many research results have been created and applied in all stages of the production process, from new plant and animal varieties; planting, care and cultivation techniques; post-harvest processing and preservation techniques of agricultural products...
Strengthening production links
The application of science and technology to agricultural production and processing has shown clear results, however, the investment cost in high-tech production is not small. This makes many localities, enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers see the results but cannot afford to invest.
To overcome this difficulty, many localities have promoted production linkages. Typically, Binh Phuoc, in order to attract businesses to invest in the agricultural and food processing industry, has proposed many practical solutions such as creating available conditions for clean land funds; supporting the clearance of production sites to form specialized industrial clusters, ready to attract investment; promoting investment in essential infrastructure, logistics, inter-provincial and inter-regional transport infrastructure.
Recently, in Dong Tam commune, Dong Phu district (Binh Phuoc), the Ba Tu agricultural and food processing factory was started, with an investment capital of more than 6.5 million USD, expected to be completed and put into operation in June 2026.
To increase linkage and develop agricultural value chains, Binh Phuoc will focus on building and connecting agricultural enterprises and organizations representing farmers to link along value chains to promote rapid development, expand the area of crops and livestock produced according to standard, safe, ecologically diverse, environmentally friendly, multi-value and sustainable production processes; attract investment enterprises, link with product consumption and markets; promote linkage and cooperation between cooperatives and enterprises along value chains.
Determining "Transforming the agricultural economic structure, increasing the proportion of livestock and agricultural services; closely linking production with processing and product consumption", to realize the goal and to make agriculture have a breakthrough development, be the "pillar" of the province's economy, Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee issued Project 01-DA/TU, Resolution 10-NQ/TU, the Provincial People's Council issued mechanisms and policies to encourage agricultural development in the province; along with policies to implement the National Target Program for the period 2021-2025.
With a clear orientation and a system of mechanisms and policies, including a mechanism to support production according to the value chain (support through enterprises and cooperatives) suitable to the local socio-economic conditions, it has helped agricultural production in Lao Cai province develop.
By the end of 2023, Lao Cai province will have 47 models of linking agricultural products, of which 16 enterprises will join in linking with cooperatives and farmer households and 26 cooperatives will join in linking with cooperatives and farmer households; the linkage scale is 11,000 hectares with about 12,000 participating households; the total value of linked consumption will reach over 1,200 billion VND.
Some typical value chain linkage models and projects include: Tea linkage model, scale of over 3,300ha/3,000 households; cinnamon linkage model, scale of 7,850/3,500 households; pineapple linkage model 350ha/750 households; banana linkage model 175ha/250 households...
The agricultural market is increasingly expanding, many Vietnamese agricultural products are officially exported to major markets. However, in the context of markets increasingly demanding high standards, the application of science and technology from production, processing to distribution is an effective solution to help solve the problem of increasing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products. |
