Upgrading and repairing to ensure safety of dams and irrigation reservoirs

Many dams in the province will be upgraded and repaired in the 2025-2030 period.

Head of the Irrigation Sub-Department Tran Xuan Tien said: In recent years, the investment, maintenance, upgrading and repair of irrigation reservoirs has always been of interest to the People's Committee of Quang Binh province. However, many irrigation reservoirs in the area were built 20-30 years ago, so they are damaged and degraded, especially in the conditions of heavy rain and floods.

Up to now, the province has 151 irrigation reservoirs, of which 61 dams and reservoirs are damaged and degraded; 22 severely damaged works are in the process of preparing design and construction documents; 39 works are damaged at different levels.

Quang Binh province sets a target that by the end of 2030, there will be a plan and funding to upgrade and repair damaged, degraded, and unsafe dams and reservoirs; strive for 100% of large reservoirs to apply information technology in the management, operation, forecasting, and warning of unsafe dams and reservoirs in the province.

The estimated investment cost for repairing and upgrading dams and reservoirs by 2030 is 365 billion VND. Of which, the 2025-2028 period will implement the plan with a total cost of 191 billion VND to repair damaged works with high safety risks at high priority level; the 2029-2030 period will implement the plan with a total cost of 174 billion VND to repair damaged works with high safety risks.
