Improve the efficiency of Farmers' Associations at all levels

Over the years, the Provincial Farmers' Association has always paid attention to, led and closely directed the implementation of the Association's tasks and the farmers' movement, contributing to political stability and socio-economic development.

On the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2024), Phu Tho Newspaper reporter had an interview with comrade Le Thi Quynh - Vice President of the Provincial Farmers' Association about the results of building a strong organization and improving the effectiveness of the Farmers' Association at all levels.

Reporter: Could you please tell us about the outstanding results in implementing the organization building of the Association in the province in recent times?

Comrade Le Thi Quynh: The work of building and consolidating the Association's organization has been strengthened, affirming the role and position of the Association in the political system and social life in rural areas; step by step, strongly and comprehensively innovate the content and methods, improve the quality and effectiveness of the Association's activities. From the beginning of 2024 to now, the Association at all levels has admitted over 1,200 new members, bringing the total number of members in the whole province to nearly 200,000 members, accounting for over 91% of farming households, operating in 2,187 branches in 213 communes, wards and towns with grassroots Association organizations. The quality of grassroots Associations, branches and members has been significantly improved, through annual assessment and classification, 90% of Association bases, 85% of branches, 100% of districts, cities and towns have fulfilled their tasks well, no Association at any level has failed to fulfill their tasks.

The leadership and direction of the Executive Committee of the Farmers' Association at all levels in the province have been innovative, creative, focused, and close to the grassroots; focusing on directing the successful implementation of the goals and tasks of the Association and the farmers' movement, annually completing and exceeding the emulation targets assigned by the superior Association. The staff of the Association at all levels has been gradually rejuvenated and specialized, meeting the requirements and tasks. The operational efficiency of the Association at all levels and the quality of members have been improved.

Reporter: Can you tell us about the leading role of the Farmers' Association and its members in developing agriculture, rural economy, and building new rural areas in our province?

Comrade Le Thi Quynh: In recent years, the Farmers' Association and farmers' association members in the province have been promoting their role as the main subject and the center in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas associated with sustainable poverty reduction, contributing to changing the face of rural areas in the homeland.

In 5 years (2019-2024), the Association at all levels has implemented the construction of 75 economic development models and projects with a total value of over 7.2 billion VND. To date, the province has established 160 branches with 2,034 members; 305 association groups with 2,371 members participating in activities in the fields of livestock, crop cultivation, aquaculture, and service industries. Farmers have been mobilized to contribute over 221 billion VND, donate nearly 5.5 million ^m2 of land to build socio-economic infrastructure works in rural areas, more than 1.2 million working days; renovate and repair over 86,000 km of roads; repair and solidify over 6,700 km of canals...

The Association at all levels actively improves the quality of its members through organizing patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the Movement "Farmers compete in excellent production and business (SXKDG), unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty". Every year, it attracts over 126,000 farming households to register to strive for the title, of which over 78,000 households achieve the title of SXKDG at all levels. Through the movement, households have supported over 4,000 farming households to escape poverty sustainably with a total amount of 40.5 billion VND.

To practically support farmers in developing production and business, the Association has created capital sources and funds through channels such as the Farmers Support Fund (FSF), the Social Policy Bank (PSB), and Commercial Banks. Of which, the total capital of the FSF in the province currently reaches more than 56 billion VND for over 2,500 households to borrow capital to implement 450 investment projects to expand production and business; the capital entrusted from the PSB reaches nearly 1,700 billion VND.

In addition, the Association has coordinated to organize vocational training for over 15,000 members. Of which, it directly organized 90 vocational classes for over 3,000 members, 85% of whom were introduced to jobs after training. The organization supplied over 3,000 tons of animal feed, 1,113 tons of various types of seeds, 279 agricultural machines, over 35,000 tons of delayed NPK fertilizer with a value of over 200 billion VND; organized training courses to transfer science and technology to over 550,000 members and farmers participating, consuming 105 tons of agricultural products, worth over 12 billion VND, coordinated to support the development of 235 OCOP products with a rating of 3 stars or higher, bringing over 76,000 agricultural farmer members to participate in the e-commerce trading floor giaothuong.net.vn, postmart.vn...

Reporter: To further improve the quality and efficiency of the activities of the HND at all levels, could you please tell us some key tasks in the coming time?

Comrade Le Thi Quynh: To further improve the quality and effectiveness of operations, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have identified key tasks and solutions such as strengthening information, propaganda, and mobilizing farmers to effectively implement the Party's guidelines, policies, and laws of the State and the Association; improving the quality of the Association's major emulation movements, focusing on the Movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably"; affirming the role of the subject in the emulation movement to build new rural areas, the Campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas"; promoting the development of professional branches and groups, attracting and gathering farmers to produce and do business together.

Continue to improve the efficiency of the People's Credit Fund, deploy lending associated with technical training, production organization plans to build linkage models, cooperatives and household groups, clubs with the community responsible for sustainable economic development. Coordinate with the Social Policy Bank to guide the implementation of lending entrustment activities for poor households and other policy beneficiaries effectively. Promote vocational training, job introduction; transfer of technical advances, supply of agricultural materials; guide the development of collective economic forms, linkage to support production and business; participate in introducing and promoting agricultural products; expand activities of traditional craft villages' industries and services; promote the development and application of biotechnology in agricultural production.
