According to VietNamNet on April 2, airfares for the April 30-May 1 holiday are increasing rapidly every day, especially from the two major centers of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to famous tourist destinations across the country.
However, not only flights to Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Lat or Quy Nhon,... have 'hot' airfares, but flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa also have sky-high prices during this holiday.
Survey on ticket sales systems of domestic airlines, from April 29-30 to May 4 (end of holiday), airfare The cheapest round trip (including taxes and fees) from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City is about 6 million VND (Vietjet Air or Bamboo Airways), more than 7 million VND with Vietravel Airlines, the most expensive is up to more than 7.5 million VND/Vietnam Airlines ticket, economy class.
Notably, the price of over 7.5 million VND is the lowest, applied by Vietnam Airlines to all flight times, regardless of early or late.
This price is 40% higher than the average ticket price recorded during the week of April, when it only fluctuated from over 4-4.5 million VND.
Normally, during holidays, including April 30 - May 1, airfares from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Da Lat, etc. become expensive and scarce due to high demand; while the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City flight fares also increase, but the increase is not as much as this year.
According to an agent specializing in selling tours and airline tickets, because the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification was held in Ho Chi Minh City with a military parade and fireworks display on the occasion of April 30 - May 1, the demand for attending the event as well as traveling on this route increased. Therefore, ticket prices also increased sharply compared to this holiday in previous years.
To serve the increasing demand to Ho Chi Minh City, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that from April 25 to May 5, domestic airlines operated 5,083 flights to/from Ho Chi Minh City (an average of 462 flights/day), both departure and arrival increased by 21%.
For the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route alone, airlines plan to operate 1,261 flights, up 8% and 16% respectively; providing 305,000 seats, up 7% and 11% respectively compared to the flight schedule before the increase in flights and the same period in 2024.
In total, on domestic routes, during the period of April 30 - May 1 this year, Vietnamese airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights (an average of 685 flights/day), an increase of 24% and 21% respectively; providing about 1.5 million seats, an increase of 20% compared to the flight schedule before increasing flights and 22% compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, airfares to popular domestic tourist destinations are still rising and running out quickly.
Recorded from April 29 to May 4, flying from Hanoi to Phu Quoc, if you buy now, you will have to spend nearly 8.36 million VND/round trip ticket. It is also difficult to buy tickets because there are few flights, on the return trip on May 4 there is only one flight in the morning of Vietjet Air.
For the Hanoi - Nha Trang flight, the airfare is recorded at around 7.1 million VND (Vietjet Air), even as expensive as the Phu Quoc flight at up to 8.45 million (Vietnam Airlines).
Going to Quy Nhon, if departing from Hanoi, the ticket price is more than 6 million VND; going to Tuy Hoa is about 7.65 million VND (only operated by Vietnam Airlines).
However, airfares from Ho Chi Minh City to tourist destinations are cheaper during this time. For example, the flight route from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc, the ticket price only fluctuates from 3.7-3.9 million VND/round trip ticket at Vietjet Air, Vietnam Airlines.
Or the flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, the cheapest ticket price is 3.6 million, the highest is over 5 million VND.
