Meaningful activities

Awarding scholarships to disadvantaged students is one of the humanitarian activities that the Provincial Red Cross Association at all levels has carried out for many years. However, previous scholarship awarding programs were often carried out on a specific occasion or program, and no program was carried out throughout the year. In order to support and help students in difficult circumstances and at risk of dropping out of school to feel secure on their way to school, in 2024, the Provincial Red Cross Association has implemented a scholarship support program for the whole year (12 months) for students in the whole province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, President of the Provincial Red Cross Association, said that this is a scholarship program to support students in difficult circumstances and at risk of dropping out of school, so the association will survey and list these students to mobilize support resources. The purpose of the program is to share difficulties, encourage their spirit and create a foundation for them to continue going to school without having to stop midway due to difficult family circumstances.

According to statistics from the Provincial Red Cross Association, from September 2023 to April 15, 2024, the Provincial Association has awarded scholarships with a total value of more than 4 billion 470 million VND; in the first quarter of 2024 alone, the total value of scholarships awarded was 690 million VND. Thanks to that, hundreds of students in localities in the province have been empowered to continue their journey of pursuing knowledge, dreams, and moving towards a brighter future.

Towards a bright future

Many students who received scholarships supported by the Provincial Red Cross Association shared that they had never received such a valuable scholarship. Whether they were good students or just average, when asked, they all said that they would strive to excel in their studies to be worthy of the trust and expectations that everyone had placed in them through this scholarship support program.

Phan Minh Sang, a 9th grade student at Tuong Binh Hiep Secondary School (Thu Dau Mot City), currently lives with his mother and older brother. His mother does not have a stable job, she does whatever she is hired to do, and she is sick so she cannot do much. The family's circumstances are too difficult, so her brother had to drop out of school early to work to help his mother. Knowing that his mother had to work hard to send him to school, Sang is always aware that he must try his best in his studies. As a result of his 8th grade ranking, Sang was an excellent student.

This is the first time I have received such a valuable scholarship supported by the Provincial Red Cross Association. For me, this scholarship is very meaningful, helping my family in difficult times, helping me to continue studying. I will try to study every day to get better results and later find a stable job to take care of my family and my mother because my mother has worked very hard to raise me to study."

This scholarship support program is one of the humanitarian activities with profound humanistic meaning, receiving the attention and support of organizations and individuals. Students with difficult circumstances and at risk of dropping out of school in the localities will continue to be surveyed and listed by the Red Cross Association at all levels to support them to go to school. This practical attention and support has encouraged and motivated students with difficult circumstances to strive harder in their studies.

The scholarships awarded to the right beneficiaries not only help them go to school more conveniently, help many poor families take better care of their children, but also contribute positively to the education cause of the province. Hopefully, after receiving this scholarship, the students will always remember the love, care and sharing that the community and society have given them, from there strive to study and practice well to later become useful people for their families and society.

According to the plan, in 2024, the Provincial Red Cross Association will award 1,025 scholarships with a total value of 12 billion 300 million VND (each scholarship is worth 12 million VND/year) to students in difficult circumstances and at risk of dropping out of school throughout the province. The scholarships will be awarded quarterly to help students have the conditions to go to school.
