Nguyen Gia Bao, a 12A5 student at Vo Thi Sau High School in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, had an appendectomy on the night of June 25. The doctor asked him to stay in the hospital for at least 5 days for observation. However, Bao still tried to take the high school graduation exam.
Gia Bao shared that yesterday he did about 43-44 questions in Math. This morning, he took the combined natural science exam, Physics and Biology. Bao set a target of 8 points, and a target of 9 points in Chemistry.
Bao plans to use the combination of Math - Chemistry - Biology to study pharmacy and biotechnology at the University of Natural Sciences. Previously, Bao also used the method of assessing capacity and considering academic records for admission. Bao's capacity assessment test score was over 800 points.
Bao added that today his health is stable, his parents also take turns going to the hospital to take care of him and encourage him to try to do well on the exam.
According to Ms. Le Kim Mai, Deputy Head of Vo Thi Sau High School Examination Site, candidate Nguyen Gia Bao was eligible for special graduation but he was still determined to take the exam to be admitted to university.
On the day of the exam registration procedure, Bao had just had surgery and could not come. The exam council supported and allowed his parents to come and do the procedure on his behalf.
During the two days of the exam, Bao was taken from the hospital to the exam site by ambulance and was assisted by volunteers and police into the exam room. This candidate took the exam on the first floor, in the same room as other candidates.
Ms. Mai added that the examination board also reminded the invigilators to pay attention to the health of the candidates. Luckily, on the first day of the exam, the candidate took the exam smoothly and was in stable health.
Vo Thi Sau High School (Binh Thanh District) has 600 candidates taking the exam in 25 exam rooms.
